Kind of like the real world equivalent of the long running how was your sleuth day thread. (in the hopes of meeting oldies, new people, everyoneee; all replies welcomed, short and long :))
Hi, I'm Anna. Re-started as a new detective, Marlene, because I love Marlene Dietrich (particularly in Morocco and Shanghai Express). Was Sumia back in the day for a brief stint.
No better time to start again than "Noirvember", the month dedicated to watching film noir. ;) Got a favorite noir film (or ten)? I love me some Bogart films, including the proto-noir The Petrified Forest with Leslie Howard who gave Bogart his film break. Today, I watched Columbia's first The Whistler film in their film series adaptation from the radio show. Short and interesting.
Also, I can't believe 2020 is almost over! What a blessing! In the UK, we're in the second wave mentality. I imagine it's similar in a lot of other places.

Hi, Candace! Nice to meet you!
Good luck with your Nemesis hunt! That's my goal one day.
I'm actually really bad at sticking to reading. I don't think I read more than a few Sherlock books. Used to be more into Agatha Christie's Poirot mysteries.
Yeah, that's the one thing.. getting on top of those 12 cases a day. I think that's why I also didn't get back into it. Life was too busy and storing cases only could do so much.
Hope you're staying safe!

@Marlene: The great thing with the Sherlock stories is that the majority are short stories, so not too much commitment lol!! I haven't read any Agatha Christie movies before, I've just seen movie adaptations - maybe one day! I don't read as much as I probably should, lol.
@Lady Jas: YES omg such an awesome show. I have not gone to visit the set, but I have been thinking about it all year, because I live pretty close to where they film! I'm just not sure right now if they're letting anyone near. I know they started filming Season 14, but I'm assuming it's a closed set for now. I finally worked my way through the final few seasons (thanks to quarantine!) so I'm all caught up!

Thanks, Lady Jas! I definitely remember you and a lot of other folks.
Probably! I think I would find Holmes's personality too grating and I tend to be a completionist, so the idea of reading all those stories, would drive me bonkers haha. :') Ditto. I don't read as much as I ought to and my grammar suffers for it, oj vey.

@LJ - lol, oh yes, he's a CANADIAN TREASURE!! If you want a bit of his early work, check out the old movie Tobey McTeague, lol. He plays a rebel teen sled-dog driver HA HA HA classic canadian. We used to watch that movie all the time when we were kids, and when I saw him as Murdoch I instantly recognized him (those eyes... those eyelashes... lol) and was hooked! Glad it turned out to be such an awesome show. I will DEFINITELY do what I can to get you an autograph if I'm ever able to get there!!
@Marlene, lol!! What other noir films would you recommend? I haven't watched too many, would love to watch more though. Especially since we've got all the time in the world, sitting at home LOL

Shelby, have you watched the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries and the new movie? The movie picks up literally where the show ended.
I am also a fan of Midsomer Murders? That show is fantastic too!!

You'll be sorry you asked me! I'm really into film now, so here it goes..
anything with Bogart and Bacall but especially The Big Sleep
Fritz Lang's are a mixed bag but iconic nonetheless, my favorite is Ministry of Fear (and M but that's proto-noir I guess)
Joan Crawford in Sudden Fear is so good
Woman on the Run is great and little known, good female protagonist noir
Out of the Past is A+ level noir with Robert Mitchum
Dragonwyck with Vincent Price and Gene Tierney is Gothic melodrama with noir elements, really recommended especially if you're a fan of either of them
