What would be a good amount of smart stats to travel with, if I had to rely only on my detective for crime scene evidence? I'm going to travel soon, so looking to make sure I'm balanced enough to get a good outcome.

If you have a full set of interview skills and all the evidence skills, I’ve found that 10-12 smart and 15+ on your tough/charm set of choice works well for IH-RH cases during travel.

I believe you can build a suit of unmodified villain hunt items around +18 Tough/+14 Smart or +19 Charm/+14 Smart which will keep your number of quit cases quite low even on almost impossible cases. You’ll have suspects clam more than you’d like, but properly examined evidence saves 4-6 questions per piece so it balances out. I’ve completed many a villain hunt with 0-2 quit cases with such a suit.

Unsolicited First VH Tips:

Don't be afraid to quit cases. You can spend thousands of dollars in bribes on a case that you won't be able to solve in the end and your VH can end up being quite costly. I know young detectives who have run out of money doing their first villain hunt. Even if you have horrible stats, you're going to get some cases that you can solve with your PE contact and you'll eventually get to the next city. Don't be in a hurry. I recently took an alt detective of mine on her first VH with +5 smarts/+18 charm and managed quite well.

Good luck in your travels Shelby.
