OK I'm doing a favour for the Cosa Nostra and Qtn is What was the first Case of Sherlock Holmes Career.
choices are (1)Silver Blaze
(2)The Gloria Scott
(3)The Speckled Band
(4) A study in Blue
Now the first case in his Career was A Study in Scarlet.Assuming a typo I put in No.4 to be told wrong and it was The Gloria Scott.
Now I may be wrong but A Study in Scarlet was written in 1887, Silver Blaze and The Speckled Band 1892 and Gloria Scott not until 1893.
So You can see why I'm confused

Yes :)
But I think it means that the first case Sherlock Holmes had in his career (think it's usually Watson who retells their adventures), was Gloria Scott, and even though it's written later it's supposed to have happened earlier - hope I made sense :)

In "Gloria Scott", Watson asks:"But why did you say just now that there were very particular reasons why I should study this case?"

To which Holmes answered: "Because it was the first in which I was ever engaged."

Ah thank you both. My fault for not understanding the question correctly.
