There are threads by Ben in the Game Annoucement Board. These threads are usually very important news that shape the game. Since they are only temporary, it be nice if these threads can be save to a archive where newbies can go to read. Since the topic of these threads are already close, it should be strictly for reading and no one is able to make any new post/reply on these threads. I suppose it can be very interesting reading it and let all of us whether new or old get an idea of the history of sleuth and how the game had changes with time.

I am not entirely clear why a newbie would want to know the game has changed? It wouldn't apply to them anymore, they don't know the game any other way. They have the customer care center, the FAQ, the newbie board, others.

Perhaps, you can give us a better idea, what other game announcements posts should be archived? Trying to place myself in newbie shoes, I honestly don't know. Perhaps for instance something like the thread that Ben has up there now in regards to switching agencies, and the 28 hr time period. Also I think a newbie would not realize a third agent would be allowed in one agency. I think this could be placed in the FAQ. Instead of them reading super long discussions about things, and opinions.

I never checked the newbie FAQ towards the newbie message boards. Perhaps there is room for improvement there. Maybe something you would want to do Delvin, or another volunteer.

Some of us just enjoy digging through threads and learning about the history of our enviroment.

Ah....that makes sense, did not think of that. I think you would have to be very careful in marking it somehow, otherwise it gets confusing. As a newbie you already have so much to think about.

I like archive idea, as long as the archive is just for interesting reading. Just a thought, but maybe the archive could be unlocked at a specific detective age so that the archive's contents could only be accessed by detectives that have been here enough time to not be confused by the archive, and newbies wouldn't get confused by the archive contents disagreeing with the current stuff then.

We are going by the assumption there is something to archive here. I would not be surprised if Ben just pressed delete on them a long time ago, and did not log them.

I have found many useful and interesting threads since I have been here. If I found something confusing, I was usually able to find someone to clear it up for me. I had not spent much time in the subscription customer service before, but have started digging there as well. Of course Ben has pressed delete on many. We are just wondering if it is possible with time and space limits to perhaps save a few more of the pertainent or interesting threads. Jojo might cry again if his proposal ever disappeared, and it is a legendary scene I am glad I did not miss out on just because I wasn't here at the time.

Excellent point, so what I think we should be interested in is not bringing back old threads, but starting to log the current counterparts of those threads, so that they can be brought back when they are old threads. How would that help us - now it wouldn't, but in a while, it could help. The reason I'm talking about the future is very simple - if this is wanted now, chances are very good that it will be wanted in a while too.

Some of those threads originally from the "Game Announcement" board are already relocated to the Sleuth Talk board by the Admin. eg. the recent "Mystery Changes" was not deleted, it was moved. However, I think the arguments in some threads in the past have gotten pretty heated, and so those were deleted and not preserved.

The question I think is whether we should put all of these threads in a separate board? I'm not against it, it could be useful when someone remembers a topic being discussed before, and want to look it up.

There are definately threads that are not helpful or productive to retain. I have not been here long enough to know what threads are moved, what is deleted. There have been a few Admin threads that have been deleted that I think would have been helpful to be able to glance back at, that I have not found over in the sub cust service threads.
