This strange woman keeps popping up and saying "There is more to so-and-so than meets the eye". Then after I solve the case she comes to my office and says that whoever I put in jail was a suspect in some case or other and now she will never get to the bottom of it.

What if anything is the significance of this ?person ?

Just saw my mistake - that's "kidnapped reporteer, not "kindnapped reporter" Answer was right, just can't type today (or kidnapped).

I think i read somewhere that when you do a case that the Shady character warns you off of, his price goes up. Does anyone know if that is true?

No it is not true. Shady's price is based on your experience points. So new to the game, it will cost you less. Grand Master detective and it is really going to sting.

BUT the cutscenes with Larry and with the lady with the magnifying glass DO matter.

Larry the Toe will charge you money to direct you to the Cabaret, and the lady with the magnifying glass signals a case with an impact on two factions, one up and one down.

Thanks for correcting my answer Moonshh. I think I know why I made that mistake - for some reason I quit thinking of Larry and factions as having cut-scenes (even though they obviously do). :)

I have actually depended on some of the other 'plotlines' to help me out - I've had several where a suspect gets arrested, then I prove that they didn't do it - so I've come to assume that the police always arrest the wrong one....

Of course, this might misfire on me - there's another where you dream of blood-covered photos of people, and it names one in particular - which has always turned out to be another innocent party who will be the 'next victim'....

But in the favour case I just completed, the finale included a photo that the murderer had taken of himself, smiling and covered in blood.... I didn't even SUSPECT the guilty party until I got lucky at the last second....

Well, I'll use a bit more intelligence in future, but I think there is some help to be gained from 'circumstance'! :-)

I don't think you can count on any of the cutscenes to provide reliable clues. I've seen them all work out both ways.

Best not to read too much into them, unless you are saving lots of money for Shady.
