Hi, i just have a quick question
if you have 2 or more people that know or heard something suspicious, does that mean if both those people say they dont suspect X, mean that X is not the killer?
in other words can there be 2 seperate witness evidences pointing to 2 separate suspects both of which have real alibis?

Hi Voidz. Sorry it's taken a while for anyone to respond to you. I think it's just the time of year -
people spending less time on the site and maybe making it a priority to try and finish their cases rather than to read the message boards.

Anyhow ... when 2 or more people say that they *don't* suspect X you still can't assume that X is not the killer. The only assumption you can make on the basis of witness evidence (WE) is that 2 samples of WE against X (i.e. 2 separate individuals saying that they DO suspect X) mean tha X definitely is the killer.

One single sample of WE against a suspect means nothing on its own.

The killer can never have a real alibi.

Hope this helps : )

Thank you for replying :D
So lets say x, y, and z
first person says i suspect x because 123
second person says i suspect y because 234
could this still mean that neither of those is the murderer?

What im trying to say is i dont wana accuse based on WE
i want to eliminate based on WE, if 2 people who "think they know who the murderer is" say that x isnt the murderer, does that mean i can eliminate x?

No, you can't eliminate anyone based on WE.

The only suspects you can safely eliminate are those with real alibis. Also, if you have the Research skill you can eliminate whichever suspect it highlights.

You can safely accuse only when you:
- match a piece of physical evidence to a suspect with a fake or “no alibi”
- find 1 witness evidence against a suspect with a fake or “no alibi”
- find 2 pieces of witness evidence against the same suspect (when you can't determine if the alibi is fake or real)

Yes of course i know all those criteria
im talking about how and when can i eliminate a suspect based on WE
for example 8 suspects, 6 of which say they dont suspect X, means X is definitely not the murderer (since of course X isnt going to accuse himself)
Is there exactly two pieces of WE against the murderer in every case? or can there be more?
Can 2 people with real alibis have WEs pointing to each one of them separately? can 3?
stuff like that

There will always be 2 WE against the killer. I never had 3 witnesses against the same suspect. So far I only had one suspect with a real alibi per case that had a WE against him/her.

But this is just based on experience. To be on the safe side it's best to accuse if you have 2 witnesses against the same suspect.

Exactly! ive played this game years back, and i dont recall (based on experience of course) that 2 different people with real alibis, each had a WE pointing to them
has anyone come across this scenario?
