Any trick may be played on every case you take until you're able to solve one. To try to solve it, pay close attention to the twist text as it will mention how your case is different from usual ones and use that information to help you solve the case. The twist text will be displayed once randomly (and only once, so look out for it and don't click away before you have a chance to read it, since you won't be shown the same text again during that case) when you try to access the map with a picture of a pumpkin to indicate that it is a Halloween trick twist.

The guilty suspect can never die, so if the person you intend to accuse is dead, take that as a hint that they're innocent - the murderer is really someone else. The killer may flee though. The text when you visit a suspect should tell you if they're dead or just on the run.

Actually, there were trick cases were the culprit died.
