Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

Zara, above you said:

"If she were lying about either of them then that makes her a spy. But if that were so, then both she and Sal would have made the last mission fail, however there was only one sabotage vote."

There were NO sabotage votes.

Well it's an either/or situation. Either Sal or mss snopes is a spy. Which means I'll have to vote negative on my own team selection.

And then next team selection will come from miss snopes. If that is rejected then it will be Sal's choice. This is going to be interesting.

Okay, wow. I've been cleared (I think that's almost certain now). I'm very sorry, Resistance, for my awful spy-ish-ness this game, I don't know why, but although I meant everything I said, it just came off awfully spy-ish. Sindy actually sent me 50k! XD

I had considered that the spies might have been toying with us (that there were 2 spies on M4 but they let us win it anyway), giving us M4 and then destroying us in M5, but that's probably just paranoia, and since there were no sabotage votes on M4, if there were 2 spies on the mission they would have had to coordinate.

If miss snopes and Sal were both on this team and at least one of them has to be a spy, wouldn't spy Missy just confirm Sal as Res, get the team approved, and win the game for the spies? This is one place where I'm inclined to believe that the whistleblower is almost certainly Res. I'm not sure who the other spies are, I don't remember much from the start of the game so I can't pull my usual normal neural shortcut+brute force the possibilities thing. If we can decide Sindy's allegiance that should really help. Oh, and there had to be another spy on M2 apart from Sal; from what I remember, the spies could be Sal, Sindy, shell (and after M4, I don't think shell is a spy, she could have easily proposed a dirty fifth team and won the game for the spies right then) or Sal, Ty, Aspen? (Hey, not bad, this is pretty good for my memory) I think my other suspect was Zara, who is mostly off my list right now. I haven't logicked it out yet but I just think there are too many spies running around otherwise. Try to pick the clean team, Missy! (No pressure :P)

Bela, you perfectly said my exact thoughts after spending hours yesterday going through this thread from the beginning. I also experienced the paranoia of wondering if there were 2 spies on the last mission and only one sabotaged to either 1) mess with us or 2) one didn't realize they needed 2 votes to sabotage.

The only things I am 100% sure of are that I am Resistance and Sal is a spy. So going back through, I was looking for validation that Sindy's report of Ty and Aspen being spies with Sal is true. I found a couple of things that did make me feel better about this trio.

1) In the M2, T1 mission, Sindy proposed a team of herself and the 3 suspected spies (Sal, Ty & Aspen). After the proposal, Ty says "Back to the proposed team, we have new member, Sal. I would expect that the result will be THE SAME as the last mission EXCEPT you, Sal. Please say something so I can know more before I made my decision." I did not add emphasis here - Ty used the ALL CAPS on those words. This seems very much like table talk to me. It ended up not mattering because Sindy used NO CONFIDENCE and mooted this team.

2) This is a smaller one, but Aspen proposed the very next team. It was of Aspen, Bela, Shell & Zara. This could be coincidence or it could be Aspen putting herself with 3 Resistance. (Team rejected 4-4).

3) Bela proposed next team (M2, T3) of: Bela, Sal, Ty & Shell which ended up being a 1 Sabotage vote failed mission. After proposal, Ty commented: "Actually, I prefer a team with me, you, shell and Sindy."

4) Random remark made by Sal around the time of above mission was that he is suspicious of Bela, Shell & Zara. This comment will mean more to me than others as I KNOW that Sal is a spy. I understand you all don't know it like I do but to me, it's a good clue.

Ugh, out of room.....continuing
