Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

*drops a pin*
Yep I heard it. It is so very quiet around here. I think I know how I'm going to vote, it should be a yes unless someone can convince me otherwise. I'm not really fond of this team, but I'm getting to the point of something, anything, is better than nothing.

I would really like to hear Aspen's opinion of this team. Also maybe Sal could weigh in on some thoughts he has about the game so far. Also Bela, did you ever figure anything out concerning the use of the power cards?

I'm going to assume Ty will vote no for this team, seeing how he believes Zara to be a spy, and he used no confidence on my team, rejected Zara's for the very same reason. He suspects a spy.

Well, I’ve been waiting to hear some other thoughts on this team selection but - as you say shell - it has been very quiet.

I am thoroughly confused about this team. I *think* I have worked out why miss snopes has chosen these four players (i.e why she feels secure) but I’m not wholly convinced. I’d like her to share some of her thoughts with us.

I’m more confused about the allegiance of both Ty and Aspen than ever. In particular, it’s been a while since Aspen has posted here - and I noticed she hasn’t been online since 17 July. I hope everything is okay with you Aspen. It would be good to hear your thoughts : )

Shell, I'm not sure if you're telling Ty to vote no and he is aware of the fact or if you're hoping for the power of persuasion to get him to vote no OR maybe you're trying to use reverse psychology on him so he does vote yes. I'm not really looking for an answer to this but felt it important enough to mention.

Actually I wasn't telling Ty anything. Just following his logic. He voted yes for my team, but used no confidence when that team ended up with six yes votes. He felt sure there was a spy on the team. Then when Zara proposed her team he stated that he knew who the spy was, Zara to be exact. Now you comprised a team that includes one of the people he considers to be a spy. It was too risky for him to let a potential spy play in the last two team choices, so for consistency sake alone he should reject this team.

If I believe Ty to be resistance, then I have misgivings about this team.

While these are not as strong of reasons for putting each person on this team as I would like, it's what I have to work with:

Ty - Ty has seemed (to me) to be Resistance from the start in his posts. Add to that the fact that he used NO CONFIDENCE on a team that 'most likely' had at least 1 spy on it based on the 6 YES votes AND he voted NO against Bela's team which the spies went on to win.

Aspen - Aspen has not said much during this game but the first time she voted no on a mission is the mission that the spies won. She also voted succeed in the mission the Resistance won. I know most spies vote succeed the first time so they don't draw attention to themselves BUT those are 2 positives for the Resistance.

Zara - I chose you Zara because you have voted Yes for every single proposed team. So unless you are a spy and every single proposed team has had at least 1 spy on it, I think you might be voting yes because you're hoping that mission results will give you some indication of who might be spies and/or you are hoping to prevent the spies from getting a default win by having 5 missions turned down in a row.

Missy - I know a spy would make this same statement but I am Resistance. If I were not, I wouldn't be so confused and struggling to put this team together because I would know what needed to be done.

I will try to post again on why I didn't choose the others shortly.

Sorry, I haven't been able to get to Noir terribly often this week. What I have figured out using the info from the cards has only left me very confused. The easiest way to break it down is: (a) Sal is Resistance, which means Ty sabotaged and shell **might** have been a spy who voted succeed (but she definitely did vote succeed since we're assuming that Sal is a spy) which means we had a 50% chance of finding a sabotage vote using KEEPING... OR (b) Sal is a spy, and he put himself in the spotlight thus leaving a spy teammate to sabotage the vote (and in this case, him saying that shell voted SUCCESS isn't of too much consequence). Either way, at least one of Ty and shell is a spy (because of spotlight). And yes, this is all from my POV as Resistance; you can add me to all the relevant spy suspect lists if you'd prefer.

If you look at it objectively, you can guess that at least one of (Ty, shell, Bela) is a spy, regardless of Sal's allegiance (because of spotlight). If Sal is Resistance, then at least one of (Ty, Bela) is a spy (because of KEEPING...).

Those are the facts. Now the problem is my gut feeling based on what people are saying: it's awful and feels a lot like tummy ache.

Let me say again that I was soo sure my team would succeed on our mission, and everybody on it was so believable that I don't know who the spy (spies?) was (were). Basically it's the Sal+Zara+Bela mission from last game where one of my trippier deductions said that I had to be the spy. XD Sal hasn't been posting much, so there isn't much to go on; Sal, please talk a *little* more if possible: it'll really help me out and if I falsely call you a spy, you'll be able to figure out that something's up too. (On a slightly unrelated note, I have to admit that OPINION MAKER is not the *absolute* worst, it really does help me get my votes in on time!) shell and Ty seemed legit too, so I'm still not sure. I know I pulled the legit game when I was a spy, but not having a record of how either of them play, I can't call it. They've actually been playing very similarly all along. This is awful! :0

WHERE IS OC? I will even take OPEN UP at this point. Any of those amazing allegiance-revealing powers! We should all discuss and have a plan ready for those powers for whenever they come out of hiding. Like somebody said, they would be really useful right now, and if we all plan something, we can ensure that things are done in a way that enlightens as many people as possible - that way, even if a spy should get the powers, they'd have to bow to the common will or explain why they went another way.

The 3 allegiance-revealing powers are OVERHEARD CONVERSATION, OPEN UP, and ESTABLISH CONFIDENCE. I think revealing my allegiance to shell would be a good idea; we have links all over the place so whatever it is that she learns and shares, we'd be able to narrow down the ID of the spy on M2. Almost anybody's allegiance to shell sounds good, since everybody seems to trust shell more or less. Failing that, investigating Ty's allegiance sounds good too. I'd like to investigate shell too, but the problem with that is that there isn't exactly anybody all-round-trustworthy enough to be believed by the Resistance.

Thanks for the breakdown, Missy, I look forward to reading your post coming up next.

I have to add though: people voting NO for teams that ultimately failed does not imply that they are Resistance - only a spy would know of a dirty team. Also, voting YES to everything needn't solely be a Res attribute: as a spy, it's easier to just do that, especially when you're not on the team. It doesn't matter too much though, it could be like you said too. Also you could easily be feigning the struggle to propose a team - it's no easy choice whether you're Res or not. Obviously spies cannot appear very confident with their team picks lest they give themselves away.
