Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I understand where shell is coming from and can see the logic that Ty is using in applying NO CONFIDENCE to the team proposal. I still feel that my interpretation of the scenario (posted at Jul-16-2017 13:34) is also potentially valid. It’s a difficult one.

However, I now have to select a team and my task is no less difficult. The players that I currently have most confidence in as being RESISTANCE are: miss snopes and shell marple. I can also have 100% confidence in my own allegiance as RESISTANCE therefore will include myself on the team. I still agree with the doubts that have been expressed in regard to Bela, Sal and Aspen (to varying degrees). I must therefore choose between Ty and Sindy. It’s a coin toss.

I would like to propose a Mission 3 team of:

Zara
shell
miss snopes
Sindy

We all know that the last proposed team has at least 1 spy. And this team is almost the same except me replaced by shell with the reason is that it's a coin toss result? Well, I will not talk much about my thought with your selection, Zara. I think I got the hidden spy in the last team. And my vote is obvious with the same reason I used NO CONFIDENCE on the last team.

"Well, I will not talk much about my thought with your selection, Zara. I think I got the hidden spy in the last team."

Sadly that isn't very useful information, Ty. If you think that you 'got the hidden spy' on the last team then why would you not share your views openly in order to help me select the best mission team?

I'm voting yes for this team. I think we need more information and I feel I wasted a shot at gathering that information by keeping myself off of the last team.

Discussion points:

People I suspect of being a spy:

1. Sal - for reasons I've stated previously

2. Ty - a) because Sal skipped over him; b) because he's been gunning for me an awful lot this game (at least it seems to me) and I know I'm resistance; c) he's campaigning hard to get on a team

3. Bela - because she stated that she thinks AspenK is Resistance (see below)

4. AspenK - same reason as Ty - she's been gunning for me as a spy and I know I'm resistance.

I thought Bela was resistance until she gave her support for AspenK. My first thought was - based on what? She's hardly posted this entire game. I looked through AspenK's posts and couldn't see any "secret spy" stuff she had talked about or pointed out that Bela was indicating she had seen in her post. The only caveat to that is if I am a spy (as Bela tends to think I am) then AspenK most probably wouldn't have pointed out my potential use of IN THE SPOTLIGHT to have two spies on a team and avoid both of them sabotaging the mission.

5. I suspected Zara of being a spy because she was backing up AspenK in her posts.

I suspect everyone else too. Don't feel left out if I didn't name you. :)

I'm sorry I haven't really been reading the thread like I should the last few days. I have things going on at home that are demanding my attention.

Anyway, let's try to figure who the spies are. Come on Resistance! We can do this.

Okay, I've been trying to go through the whole thread in one sitting in an effort to collect my thoughts, and I've managed to get through about half. I realise it looks bad for me and everything, but that's part of the game, if I can figure something out I'm sure the Resistance will value logic over general suspicion.

Why I was so sure of the team I proposed (and I'm still pretty surprised there was a spy on it :() was because I thought everyone on the team seemed Resistance enough. Ty seemed super-earnest and hyper in a Resistance-y way, Sal seemed Resistance enough (and like I say every time, if Sal pulled that stuff off as a spy, I'm out; they deserve the win! :D), and shell seemed Resistance too. I'll ruminate on the spotlight/keeping... cards results tomorrow, that should throw up some patterns. It'd be nice if somebody else thought to look at that too. :P

I'm starting to think Ty might be a spy now though, although I still can't quite reconcile that with the way he started out. :| I still think Aspen is Resistance too, although both of these are off my readings of posts made on here in the beginning.

Zara and snopes: I am sorry that you don't get my point. I think it's obviously but it turns out that I am wrong. OK, let me talk about it.

1) My point is the last team contained at least 1 spy. And this team, Zara replace me for shell. I think I can believe shell. However, replacing me and keeping all other people mean Zara thinks I am a spy. And, normally, it's OK if people suspect me in this kind of game. I will not react strongly to that kind of suspect. However, that's when you have good evidence to support your suspicion. So let's see.

If I am a spy, I would not use NO CONFIDENCE on the last team because that team was already approved and many of you were telling me not to use the card. So I have a strong support that time to keep the mission going to fail and nobody can blame me. But I didn't.

Moreover, Sindy suspects me because she thinks I am trying to get into many mission. Guys, it's natural for any person from any side to want into a mission. But to say I am campaigning hard for it is not right. The 1st team proposed by Sal without me inside was approved by me. And in the mission 2, I didn't disapprove the team Aspen proposed because I was not in that team rather than, as I said, I would like an old team which was successful + 1 new member, not a totally new team. That's why I disapproved the team Bela proposed after even that team included me. And I even used NO CONFIDENCE on a team I was in and already approved. And you guys just keep ignoring everything and saying I am trying hard to get into a mission?

And Zara, the spy I was talking about is you. The reason is not only you suspect me. The reason is what you were thinking about the last many yes votes that spy just gives up without any strong reason. And now you pick a team based on only your FEELING and TOSS without no strong reason.

Finally, I've talked too much because that's my style when I play this kind of game. Keeping silent doesn't help anything for people. However, now I see that you

However, I think I got Sal's feeling. So I will not say much anymore. And while I am a resistance, I will still vote to help the missions.
