Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

Zara’s alt/emissary here (She’s in Shangri-La).

How is this vote ‘suspicious’? Here’s how I see it.

Five RESISTANCE members vote YES.

One suspected SPY (Bela) votes NO.

Another potential SPY (re shell's analysis), Sal, misses deadline. Or perhaps this is a way of abstaining?

Therefore only one spy has voted YES here. And this may well be a ploy to hide their allegiance and get on the mission team that needs two SABOTAGE votes. And that mission (no 4) is the next one up.

Ty, I hope you will be clear-headed enough not to waste your NO CONFIDENCE here.

Ty, there are good reasons I picked this particular team and a good reason I left myself off. If I give my reasons now, I only will be telling the spys how to react in future posts they make.

In my opinion it would be best to hold your no confidence vote for later, when it might really be needed. But it is your decision on how and when to use it.

I will admit when I first saw the votes this morning I was nervous that at least one spy had voted yes. But the more I have thought about it all day, it would make sense for the 3rd spy to vote yes hoping that would cause Ty to use his NO CONFIDENCE.

It's really difficult for me to deal with this problem. A 6 yes votes means at least 1 spy support this team. That means it's highly possible that this team is going to be failed. And you guys want me to keep NO CONFIDENCE and see this mission fail?

The reason that spies just give up this mission seems unreasonable. If this team is going to be a success, people will pick this team +1 new member. And if this team is full of resistance, the only 1 new member, even if they are spy, cannot sabotage the next mission. That means spies are going to lose. So I think there is at least 1 spy in this team is highly possible. I am sorry, Shell, for wasting the card you give me (if it's really a waste). But I think I cannot take a risk like this.

Mr. Announcer, I use NO CONFIDENCE to cancel this team.

Well Ty, you figured out what I was trying to do this mission. Keeping myself off the team was part of the strategy. If this mission had gone through and was sabatoged we would know that we had at least one spy incorrect. Only one spy on this team, they would have had to vote sabatoge. If they did not vote sabatoge, then mission 4 would put me on the team, ( resistance) and the Resistance would win. But if by chance this team had two spies on it, we needed to be watching for table talk as to how votes should be cast. Or more likely they would have both voted to succeed then added me to the next mission and both sabatoging the mission. We would then be at mission 5 not sure who is who.
So no you did not most likely waste your no confidence. I was taking a risk trying to see what would shake free.

I think so many yes votes indicates a possible 2 spy scenerio. But I'm not totally sure and am basically musing out loud.

Ty has used NO CONFIDENCE.

Leadership will now pass to Zara, unless shell wishes to use STRONG LEADER.

Zara, please propose a team of four people.

After Zara proposes her team, everyone must PM me "Mission 3, Team 2: YES/NO" within 24 hours.
