Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I'm sure it'll be fine, Tyrano; I might ask you a lot of questions but then I'll probably ask everybody a lot of questions, so as long as *you* don't run away, I won't run around yelling that you're a spy. :)

Good luck everyone! Last game I totally go the spies wrong, so I'm looking forward to improving my lurker allegiance guessing with this game.

Particular good luck to Tyrano. Whichever team he's on must win; the Mountain demands it.

Hey Bela - I hadn't realised that being given the OPINION MAKER card would mean that you have to pre-post your mission approval vote for the rest of the game. Thought it was just for one mission.

Anyhow my reasoning seems to go in the opposite direction from yours. There's no reason why we should NOT approve this first team therefore I'm happy to vote in favour.

As yet, we don't have any clue to anyone's allegiance. The sooner we have some info to work with the better. It will be difficult at first as people will be very guarded, and spies are more likely to let the first mission succeed in order to disguise their allegiance. But that's the case whoever is on Team 1. What do any of us have to lose? Let's get the ball rolling - or rather the lurkers lurking ; )

Why did Sal skip Ty?

I'll be keeping a close eye on you two as the game goes on. :)

Sending my vote in now.

Zara, I'll give you more than a clue to someone's allegiance. I'm with the Resistance. I agree with you that the first mission will most likely succeed no matter what team is offered up. But I do think the way people vote on team selections in the first round will be more telling than just letting the first team selected go through. After all Sal might be a spy, and if that were the case keeping the spotlight card for himself and giving opinion maker to a co-conspirator would be a brilliant first move. Then adding the last spy to the team and having the mission succeed would set up some pretty interesting game play from the spies and a possible win.

So unless someone can come up with a convincing argument, I'm leaning towards a no vote.

Everyone is being so analytical of the first vote, with little information to go on. Until a mission is finished we have little more then blind guessing going on. We will have to wait and see how things turn out on a mission to really know anything.

I'm going to have to agree with Aspen on this one. Of course, she is on the team and could be a spy hoping we all approve this team so she can sabotage it.

Why did I skip Ty?

Why did I put my pants (shorts) on this morning? Because I was pretty sure I'd be arrested at the golf course if I didn't. But it was a real reason.

I had no idea that Ty had ever played this game before and I knew he was concerned about his English. I thought I would give him a round to watch, poke and probe, a chance to get comfortable. As a member of the Resistance I realize that it's natural to be suspicious of everyone, but there has to be a starting point.

However you have, I think, convinced me that I too should vote "NO". If you are more comfortable with another team, then let's do it.

For the first team, I would say I agree with Zara. There is no reason to disapprove it (Actually there is one which is the exclusion of Sal on me :D). I don't think it's good idea to show up a very detail analysis about any plan now because I view it as trying to direct people without any thing based on (it looks like a distraction). The only thing I can say is that this first mission will favor us, the resistance, even if it fails (which I think impossible to happen although ironically, it's better for us to see this mission fail). So, I'm gonna say YES for the 1st team.

For Sal's unreasonable picking up for the 1st team (excluding me), I feel so strange too. So I understand Sindy's opinion. I will also keep an eye on him and even people in the first team he picked too.

Hey Ty, there's nothing wrong with your English. :)

My apologies.
