Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

MISSION 1

Sal is the leader for Mission 1.

Mission 1 will consist of THREE team members.

The first team leader has been given two advantages to distribute to whomever he sees fit. They are:

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Whoever receives this can force a team member on any mission to post his/her action ("Success" or "Sabotage") publicly on the thread, rather than via PM. This can be used one time, on any player, for any mission in the game.

OPINION MAKER: Receiver of this card must vote first publicly whether or not to approve a mission for the rest of the game. Must be used immediately.

Sal, please assign these abilities when you're ready. Keeping one ability for yourself is also acceptable.

Spies beware!!! Since I have no idea where to go yet, I'm going down the line with the exception of Tyranomaster3. He's worried about his English, so I will try to give ham a mission to poke and probe get settled in before he has to select a team. Therefore, I propose a team of

Bela would have been next and that's how she got the Opinion Maker.

Well, this is the first "text game" resistance I've ever played so far. However, I played some resistance and other liar games before. So I think I might have some experience. The most cons of mine is my English :( which is very important for this game. But I will try. Hope I won't drag you down with my English and you guys will not run away from me too :P

Opinion maker? Eesh.

I suppose I should put in a few words too: there's no reason we should approve the very first team, and not being on it makes *my* decision all the more simple.

I'm sure it'll be fine, Tyrano; I might ask you a lot of questions but then I'll probably ask everybody a lot of questions, so as long as *you* don't run away, I won't run around yelling that you're a spy. :)

Good luck everyone! Last game I totally go the spies wrong, so I'm looking forward to improving my lurker allegiance guessing with this game.

Particular good luck to Tyrano. Whichever team he's on must win; the Mountain demands it.

Hey Bela - I hadn't realised that being given the OPINION MAKER card would mean that you have to pre-post your mission approval vote for the rest of the game. Thought it was just for one mission.

Anyhow my reasoning seems to go in the opposite direction from yours. There's no reason why we should NOT approve this first team therefore I'm happy to vote in favour.

As yet, we don't have any clue to anyone's allegiance. The sooner we have some info to work with the better. It will be difficult at first as people will be very guarded, and spies are more likely to let the first mission succeed in order to disguise their allegiance. But that's the case whoever is on Team 1. What do any of us have to lose? Let's get the ball rolling - or rather the lurkers lurking ; )
