Sleuthville's Pet Control has noticed that a particular pet is being neglected. The SPC is preparing to intervene to make sure it receives the attention it is due. ;-)

Hi Miranda. Pets have two kinds of stats, their "base stats" which can't lower except when they're sick, and their "bonus stats" which they develop if you spend time with them (which boils down to doing cases together). If you stop spending time with your pet their bonus stats will get rusty and can drop, but they'll always have the floor of their base stats.

Hmm ... but I do "spend time with" my pet every single day. I haven't missed a single feeding or grooming session. Also, Archie is involved in every single case that I do. Btw I don't see how you can actually exclude a pet from helping you? Plus he never reached his full 16 its even when he was "fully grown".

Anyhow, thanks. But it sounds as if Archie is destined to be handicapped forever ...

My pet got sick recently despite feeding and grooming every day and his stats went negative.

Now I noticed ... his stats changed as well after he got meds. Before it used to be +5 tough, + 9 smart, +2 charm. Now it's +6 tough, +8 smart and +2 charm.
