After years of anticipation, the Battery Boardwalk has finally opened its doors to the general public. The residents of Sleuthville come streaming in through the ticket booth--a line stretching as far as the eye can see. Among those gaining entry is a group of elite detectives with complimentary day passes to the attractions, invited specifically to keep an eye on things. A week prior to opening, the higher-ups at the Boardwalk had received anonymous threats of sabotage and murder if the Boardwalk was not torn down immediately. However, the proprietor was not one to submit to intimidation. Thus, on opening day, a group of highly-ranked detectives were tasked with keeping the park safe.

Unfortunately, there have been rumors floating around that some in the ranks of the elite had been approached by the mysterious threat-maker, and were now working for him to guarantee the day would end in disaster. It is said only those who turned to the dark side knew who the others were; everyone else had to eye each other with suspicion and make their own judgements. Although the team has been compromised, there is no time to vet and assemble another one on such short notice. Yet the day is young and there are plenty of opportunities to ensure opening day is a success.

The detectives’ job this fine day is to make the rounds of the park and keep an eye out for any suspicious or potentially dangerous activities. If opening day goes off without a hitch, the Boardwalk is sure to bring in millions, and the detectives would stand to receive a substantial cut for their services. But if it were to fail, then Sleuthville would be plunged into financial ruin and return to the days of never-ending guilty clients and exorbitant Shady fees. Oh no.

Will the Battery Boardwalk’s grand opening be an unparalleled success, or will it go down in flames accompanied by nothing but the screams of disappointed visitors? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

Sal, please propose a team of three people.

Sal, I have been solidly Resistance the whole game. You may be wary of what I say, and sure, I *can* say one thing and do another. However, my actions, my votes, this entire game have been firmly Resistance. I'm not comfortable sending a random team first thing every mission, so I vote NO. I don't trust teams all that easily, especially not the very first proposals.

I'd like to end the game with this mission being the Resistance's third win. I think the team we should go with now is a team of miss snopes, Sal, and Bela. I'd posted what I knew yesterday, and if I had to form a team, I'd have to pick between you and Zara, and Aspen and snopes. I don't have much at all to go on with that pick, but I think it's our best bet for now. I know you think Aspen is more likely to be Resistance because your mission with her was a success, and I shouldn't be pointing fingers when Mission 1 was the same with us, but like you said yourself, that is a great way for a spy to remain hidden and appear trustworthy. I don't know why you lot think I might be a spy; when I'm a spy, I sabotage everything, every chance I get! I know that's not the best thing to say when I'm trying to get on a team, but I'm very serious about that. I'll remind you Sal, to have some faith (and I really really hope you're not pulling a long con!) :D

Oh, the first portion of my speech was posted on its own. So that's why it switched to a different page.

Bela - up until now I've had a strong conviction that you are probably Resistance, even though I couldn't put my finger on why exactly. I've also had some suspicions that Sal could be a spy. However, this ongoing back-and-forth with Sal now looks like a spy trying to convince a Resistance member that she is 'innocent'.

I know you are all lovely people in real life. But in terms of this game I'm giving my response to people's actions so far.

And Sal, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this game being played very well so far : )

If that were the case, Zara, I would play STRONG LEADER, skip Sal's turn, and in case my proposal were rejected, my fellow spy (according to you) miss snopes would eventually be the fifth leader, forcing everybody to approve her proposal no matter what.

Also you all really don't need to qualify all your accusations with "I'm sure you're actually good, but here you're a spy!", it's a game of Resistance, nobody's going to take the accusations personally. :D

(Sorry, that was me logged into Shireen. I'll pull a snopes and say it again as myself. :P)

I hear you but don't agree that your 'logic' is the obvious path that anyone who is Resitance would take. Your decision not to play the STRONG LEADER card now could be pure tactics. You are putting a lot of effort into trying to convince Sal (in particular) that you are NOT a spy. And Sal is the next leader ....

If you are a spy and you can convince Sal to have either you or ms snopes (or both) on his team then the spies can score a SABOTAGE - thus making the scoreline 2 apiece for the Spies and Resistance. It would all come down to the wire on the final mission. And you'd still have your STRONG LEADER card to play : )

Glad to know you're not taking it personally, lol.

Yes, I don't think I was hiding that I'm trying to convince Sal because he is the next leader and although I hate going with my gut because I don't fully trust that yet, I think Sal is Resistance. I think that's mostly because this is how he normally plays as Resistance. That might be stupid but I have nothing more to go on. I really thought our Mission 2 team would be Resistance, that's the kind of stuff my gut is famous for telling me. :/

I really do think that everything I did was everything I could have done as Resistance (except for not using TAKE RESPONSIBILITY to take OC at the start of mission 3 - that did not occur to me then, I was an idiot. :( But I appreciate that not everybody would do exactly what I would, of course.

Bela I have reread this thread and the more I read the more puzzled I get. I have to admit that I have leaned back and forth at times. Well, it's a discovery process, that's only natural. I have thought about rewriting that paragraph, but it wasn't inclusive enough to begin with. So instead I'm just going to sum up my ideas about everyone, make it concise but raise my points about everyone. If I misstate anything feel free to make corrections, I'm working from memory and there's lots to cover here.

First suspect obviously miss snopes per Zara's declaration. And later with the declaration from AspenK.
Second suspect Zara, because Mission 1 was a success and the addition of Zara resulted in the failure of Mission 2.
Third suspect Bela because voting SUCCEED in Mission 1 is almost a must for any spy/combined with the fact that the second mission failed.

Other little items like who voted for which missions and comments on the boards have contributed to my process. Let me say that I am a horse player. I live very near Saratoga Race Course and have attended there for many years. When one handicaps a horse race, you evaluate their past performances to try to pick a winner. That's pretty much what I do here.

If this were a horse race my tote board would look like this. (Odds of being Resistance)
Sal: No line - absolute certainty
AspenK 6/5 (strong consideration, likely Resistance)
Zara: 5/1 Still undecided but looks like this one could be resistance
Bela: 6/1 Slightly more doubt about this one but not out of the running
miss snopes: 10/1 The long shot in the field. Two accusations tough obstacle to overcome.

I will pick a team in the morning (here). But so far I'm leaning toward following my tote board.

Feel free to try and make me see things differently, everyone.

We've got to pick a team of Resistance players for this mission, or (failing that) at least something that would give us a better idea of the right team to pick for the last mission. Normally I try to use cards and proposal and mission votes to figure out what to do because otherwise I can make some pretty awful choices. I don't have much to go on this time. Like I said before, I don't even know if you're Resistance, Sal, but I'm trusting that you are because this is how you normally play. If this is an act...I will be scared to play Resistance with you ever again. :D As for everybody else, I *cannot* try to figure you using past games, and while I've had suspicions at several points during the game, I can make a case for everybody being on either side, and that will drive me crazy if I don't let it go and let a mission pass at some point to figure out more. I'm not a fan of admitting that you spies have me stumped, but: well-played. :D

I don't like it when I have to take chances, and right now, other than the spy-splits I've worked out, I have nothing to go on. These three-person missions only need everybody on it to vote YES to go through, and nobody will question you for voting YES to a team you're on, so you'll be safe if you're a spy and you say YES here. I was on the last team proposed and my vote was the swing vote since everybody else was pretty sure of what they thought there. If I were a spy, I'd say sure, let's try that out and get my team a second win. But I'm trying to make sure it's a team I can make sense of; there is NO REASON I'd have to vote down a proposal I'm on and then write huge posts trying to get on the next team if I were a spy that just needed to get onto a team to sabotage it - that is the most meaningful defense I can offer that is screaming that I'm Resistance. Sure, if I were a spy, I could be doing that so I could say this later, but really nobody has bothered to disguise their votes this game. CONTINUED.
