After years of anticipation, the Battery Boardwalk has finally opened its doors to the general public. The residents of Sleuthville come streaming in through the ticket booth--a line stretching as far as the eye can see. Among those gaining entry is a group of elite detectives with complimentary day passes to the attractions, invited specifically to keep an eye on things. A week prior to opening, the higher-ups at the Boardwalk had received anonymous threats of sabotage and murder if the Boardwalk was not torn down immediately. However, the proprietor was not one to submit to intimidation. Thus, on opening day, a group of highly-ranked detectives were tasked with keeping the park safe.

Unfortunately, there have been rumors floating around that some in the ranks of the elite had been approached by the mysterious threat-maker, and were now working for him to guarantee the day would end in disaster. It is said only those who turned to the dark side knew who the others were; everyone else had to eye each other with suspicion and make their own judgements. Although the team has been compromised, there is no time to vet and assemble another one on such short notice. Yet the day is young and there are plenty of opportunities to ensure opening day is a success.

The detectives’ job this fine day is to make the rounds of the park and keep an eye out for any suspicious or potentially dangerous activities. If opening day goes off without a hitch, the Boardwalk is sure to bring in millions, and the detectives would stand to receive a substantial cut for their services. But if it were to fail, then Sleuthville would be plunged into financial ruin and return to the days of never-ending guilty clients and exorbitant Shady fees. Oh no.

Will the Battery Boardwalk’s grand opening be an unparalleled success, or will it go down in flames accompanied by nothing but the screams of disappointed visitors? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

I keep wondering why Sal thinks he might be accused of being a spy. That, in itself, is making me curious about him. But I remind myself there are only 2 spies and 2 people have lied about my allegiance so while I am positive, it makes sense that the other Resistance members might not be.

Zara says "If the mission fails the Resistance would then be two down and the spies would only need one more to win. However, this mission will show if there is a spy on the team. After that it should be plain sailing."

This further reinstates my position. A true Resistance member would not be okay with allowing the spies to sabotage another mission. She is right though in that another win for the spies would make it smooth sailing for them in that they would only need one more win.

Ah, the paranoia is really kicking in... :D

I don't think we should be taking too many chances on the 2-person missions where we have a good chance of hitting upon an all-Res team, and I'm not too sure of this team. So many people saying: "yeah it could fail, that would be bad, but oh well", is freaking me out. We have 4 tries before we *have* to send a team on a mission; couldn't we use *some* of them every now and then? If anybody else is amenable to voting NO to this team because you have whatever suspicions, *please* go ahead; I know Resistance games are very slow and we should try to speed things up, but I feel like we're rushing into things here.

I think the voting deadline is up, Bela.

For me, voting 'no' for this team would have meant that the next team leader is someone I know is a spy.

I'm beginning to believe one resistance member has gone AWOL and joined the spies.

Mission 3 Result:

After a brief conference with Sal, Aspen puts two fingers into her mouth and fills the air with a piercing whistle (a talent she is very proud of). The panicked crows stops shoving long enough for Sal to push through and kick his steel-toed boot through one of the doors. Another couple kicks and what remains of the door easily falls off the frame. The other door is also subjected to the wrath of Sal's foot.

Despite decreasing visibility due to smoke, Aspen takes charge, directing the audience to stay low and exit calmly to avoid trampling each other. Within minutes, the theater is empty. Due to the detectives' quick thinking, nobody is harmed. The Sleuthville Fire Department arrives not long after, and is able to put out the mysterious fire started in the projection room.

Mission 3 consisting of Aspen and Sal was a SUCCESS.

The team members voted as follows:
???? SUCCESS
???? SUCCESS

miss snopes, leadership will now pass to you for the next mission.

Mission 4: Helter Skelter Havoc

One of the most popular attractions at the boardwalk is the Helter Skelter. Lines snake around the attraction and even spill off into the walkways. Screams of glee can be heard from above, as children and adults alike shoot down the ramp on their carpets, faces met with strong winds and beautiful views. Aside from a couple instances of hooligans running and smearing cotton candy down the ride for an unknown purpose, all was going smoothly.

miss snopes walks past the lines, then stops and turns back to join it. The top would be an excellent place to get a view of the whole park, she thinks. For security reasons. Of course. Soon she is at the top of the ride, with only a few people head of her. A young boy mounts his carpet and off he goes! Not two seconds later, there is a metallic rending and clattering sound, followed by a child's scream.

Alarmed, miss snopes bends over the side with the others in line to see what has happened. A section of the Helter Skelter's slide has broken and twisted, now pointing straight off the side of the ride! The small boy dangles off the end, held up only by the carpet caught along a broken edge. Seeing two fellow detectives passing by just below, miss snopes yells at them to help, while readying herself for action.

Mission 4 will consist of THREE team members.

miss snopes, the team leader, has been given one advantage to distribute to whomever she sees fit. Keeping it for herself is also permitted. The ability is:

STRONG LEADER: Whoever receives this can use it to immediately become the leader, taking leadership away from the current leader. This can only be used BEFORE the current leader has given out abilities or proposed a mission team.

miss snopes, please assign this ability when you're ready.
