Am I right in thinking that the reason the Shady Characters price for erasing my false accusations is because of solving cases after he warned me not to?

No it rises in line with experience. I think there is another thread on the message boards with more advice. (possibly in sleuth talk)
No-one is sure what the equation is. The last time I paid him off it cost $14000.

it is about 21% for my level. It used to be a higher %.

I just paid over $340,000 so I don't plan on playing fast and loose with the falses again any time real soon. It can be tempting to take risks during hunts, and there is always the possibility of error, but that's a lot of dough!
