Hello everyone. It's been some time since we've had a game of Resistance, so I'll be hosting one (without story) for everyone to enjoy. If you've never played before, feel free to jump right into the world of uncertainty and lies. I promise lots of fun. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I'm sorry Cathy, but I doubt even I could save your spies at this point.

Only the spies can decide to change their allegiance, since Resistance members are forced to vote SUCCESS on missions.

And you love a challenge and a win for the Resistance is a real challenge at this point.

*throws down gauntlet*

PS: Did you like my scented invitation?

Either side could be an enemy within. A resistance member might not be able to vote SABOTAGE, but they can work to have other resistors trust the spies, to doubt each other, and ultimately to suspect the double agent themselves. They can vote down missions they suspect will go ahead, use powers ineffectively and then lie about their results. All things which would not help you and your fellow spies out at this point in the game. So consider your gauntlet rejected; turning spy at this point is beyond me.

That said the scented invitation was lovely.

Yeti,

I understand that you need to keep up your Resistance front on the thread for the sake of appearances.

I also know it must be pretty lonely being a spy. I mean, you have to cover up for all the slip-ups of your fellow conspirators, take hits for the team, and they will still turn on you the second that doubts begin pointing in your direction. I thought it was really lonely being Resistance, not knowing who anyone else is, and having everyone doubt your allegiance, but your plight must be infinitely worse. At the very least the Resistance will stick together at the end when all allegiances are uncovered, but Spies can do nothing but sabotage each other behind each others' backs in order to win. And the fact that you know each others' allegiance but can't discuss strategy can only mean that you are three individual spies sent out individually by three separate factions, and that each of you is entirely alone in this game. How lonely and terrible that must be.

Let's go Resistance!

Yes, I'd like to use SPOTLIGHT on Yeti.

First things first:

is this Cathy hamming it up? 😂 I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but I couldn't miss that. :D

Okay, I think this is one of the best possible teams that can be drawn up; even if Yeti was the spy on Mission 1, putting him under the spotlight should either get the Resistance a win or tell us for sure that he is a spy. If he is a spy, I'm worried he might be okay with the collateral damage (for a 2-0 spy lead).

I was kinda clinging to the false hope the card wouldn't get used. I've been so tempted to vote SUCCESS just to slip under the radar, but the radar be damned the spies need to be 2-0 up. Consequently it is with deep regret that my masquerade is over that I vote...

So, unless I was extremely unlucky and picked two spies in the first round, and Bela is a spy too.. then Sindy is one.
