Hello everyone. It's been some time since we've had a game of Resistance, so I'll be hosting one (without story) for everyone to enjoy. If you've never played before, feel free to jump right into the world of uncertainty and lies. I promise lots of fun. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I never mentioned powers. I pointed out the fact that if five mission teams fail the spies automatically win and that this is team 4. Vote against the team if you like Cathy. I won't hold it against you. I'm just doing what I think is best for the resistance. If you don't believe me nothing I say will change your mind. And I feel too shitty to attempt a fruitless task.

I just noticed your title Lou. Is that new? Is that an achievement for submitting x number of intros or is it a special title endowed by the Sleuth powers that be.

Cathy, part of the problem is that you have the wrong end of the stick. It's not about proving that you're NOT a spy, it's about finding out who IS a spy. There is absolutely no way to prove you are Resistance. I mean, look at me. I've been trying for three days. :) The spies don't CHOOSE to be spies, everyone is assigned their role. Not everyone likes being a spy and some people would prefer to be a spy. But to make this game work everyone has to go run with the role they were given. For instance, I understand that Bells was told by Riza that she is a spy and therefore she has to pick on me. :P I don't take it personally. She's just playing the game. Instead of posting about why YOU are NOT a spy, tell us who you think is a spy and why. Personally, I just don't have enough information - aside from Bela - to be able say that with any certainty.

I also don't take it personally that nobody believes me because I know it's a game decision they've made in the game - it's not a decision about me personally.

I voted yes more out of desperation than anything else, but for the record, i think Yeti is a spy.

I already said who I think are spies and why, and I haven't got any new intel or opinions, so why post it again?

I was telling Autumn that she was wrong about who the spies were because she picked three people who weren't on the first team that was sabotaged. Also she said that she believed Devi and Bela to be innocent, so I was asking her whyyy she picked Yeti to go on her team then?

Autumn has her own reasons for thinking who the spies are. She think it is jintan because he said that she told him she was a spy, and she think it's you (Sindy) and gave a reason for why. Then she added me without any reason as to why and I was explaining to her that I wasn't on the first failed team so I couldn't possibly be a spy (if one were to follow her line of thinking).

I think it is important that the Resistance members are able to identify who each other are, otherwise how are we supposed to pick a winning team?

Obviously you don't know which one I am for sure, but that's the challenge one has to work with in this game.

I think I might leave this vote to fate because otherwise I would have to resort to spreadsheets and start mapping out strategies and outcomes, and honestly I don't feel up to it or that it's a healthy thing to do. I also can't forsee who people will pick to go on their teams and how they will play their cards, so it would be pointless. This game has already taken over my life in ways where I think of it when I should be thinking of other things, and being told you are a spy is sooo upsetting and honestly I don't know why it upsets me so much, since it's just a game and as Sindy said even the spies didn't pick themselves so that it was all left to fate. And trying to think out my votes is sooo difficult and hurts my brain in places I didn't know existed before.

And to everyone who this game is upsetting I can tell u I know how u feel :O

And Sindy I already like you outside of this game because you seem nice and because you found *my* sparkle pony, so if I say I think you're a spy or whatever, it's not personal or anything :) I still like ya.

I really hope that Yeti grows a conscience and I get a sparkle pony out of this game for all of the unhappiness he's caused me from saying I was a spy :(

...

Oh, and there are really funny bits in the game you won't find if you don't re-read past posts, like when Lou tells Yeti that he'd thought long and hard about why someone who is Resistance would say he is a spy and couldn't find a reason except insanity, and when jintan was baffled by Bela's choosing of the same team #1 over and he was like you're doing it all wrong.

Just saying, I read those over and they really made me laugh, so I'm hoping we're giving something for everyone out there who is reading our crazy to laugh about and find entertaining :)

I really need some rest and a change of scenery. I think I told Riza earlier I felt trapped on an island with all of you guys. If there wasn't a 24 hour limit on voting and stuff I would just take a day off

I want to reiterate that if we shoot this mission down, Devi can use her NO CONFIDENCE next round to shoot down team five and get an auto-win for the spies.

Thanks for pointing that out, Yeti, as something I shouldn't do. By the way, always had a question about this rule - does it have to be in a row or altogether? Never quite knew that and we've never before been in this situation.

It's five rejections for any single mission. So if any Mission X Team 5 fails the spies win, but that's it.
