Hello everyone. It's been some time since we've had a game of Resistance, so I'll be hosting one (without story) for everyone to enjoy. If you've never played before, feel free to jump right into the world of uncertainty and lies. I promise lots of fun. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I meant that they make the game interesting. It would be boring if it all were plain vanilla, right? As I just told you earlier actually, I didn't read the banter until AFTER I posted the team. But I still don't believe, for now, 100%, that he's a spy. Each and every one of you could tell me they were resistance and I wouldn't have to believe you, right? The same with spies.

Yeah, but he said he was a spy, as he did before, when he was a spy. Why would you want to make the game "interesting" by risking losses for the Resistance team? It will be interesting regardless, but if we take senseless risks we will lose.

At the risk of siding with a potential spy or spies, you can also find resistance games where Yeti was *not* a spy and started off with the same spiel. Yeti is a very good player and plays the game pretty much the same way whether he is Resistance or a Spy.

And I agree with Devi - winning is the goal, but getting there is half the fun. And, we have to make the thread worth reading for the folks at home. :)

Cathy Rose, Yes I have checked. But in this game you must learn that, last game or games have no bearing in this game.

I always play this in real life and usually i am owning rhe game. But lately they got bored and they rarely pick me in the missions. And most of that time i was in resistance and the games where easily won by the evil side.

I also know that this kind of game is very different from the real game but i am trying to adjust my senses.

Dont put an eye to Yeti just because he is the best enemy you can see. "there are more cunning monsters you see than the monsters under your bed."

Okay, so why trust someone who is good at being a spy? The mission could either fail or go through and we still wouldn't have any more information about who's a spy than we did at the beginning of the game.

Cathy there is no reason for a NO vote, I understand what you're saying, but Yeti was forced to go first and publicly voted Yes or am I missing something? So unless one of the other two is a spy, I'd say 45% chance of that, they would have to cast a No vote for the mission to fail, supposing that happens, it means one of them would have to be a spy. I don't see any spy making such an obvious blunder this early in the game, the safe choice not to be discovered would be to vote no, if by some unfortunate stroke of bad luck, both of the remaining team members were spies, one of them would have to fall on their sword and cast a no vote for the mission to fail, therefore we should all vote yes and take an easy resistance win. This would put the spies at a minor disadvantage but I'll take what we can get. We wait and watch for their mistakes because for the spies to sabotage a mission they must vote contrary to the resistance best interests, remember if they vote yes to remain hidden to prevent discovery, the resistance reaps the benefit, if they vote no the resistance gains information that puts us closer to uncovering them, the spies are the ones that are most at risk.

Okay, I'm not accusing anyone of being a spy... yet. I am just trying to find the best possible for us to win the game with minimum losses. And right now the proposed team doesn't make sense.

If there's anything I've learned from reading the threads, it's that the spies don't make much sense when they justify their actions, and Yeti Face certainly made no sense at all when we justified saying Yes to the mission.

Lou, I'm not sure I follow what you are saying at all.

The spies know who the other traitors are but can't coordinate, thus each must vote for their own interests and remain hidden or give away valuable information, I'm confident that they will make their missteps.

Again, if this mission either fails or goes through we won't have any more valuable information than we did at the start.
