Hello, I dont know which skill I should get next (I have 69 skillpoint, 11 skill point unused right now). I am a Smart and Charming detective. Here are the skill I currently have:
Hand Writing Analysis
Stress Detection
Sweet Talking
Rule Bending
Hair Analysis
Advanced Hair Analysis
Thread Analysis
Advanced Thread Analysis

My adjustment right now are -1 toughness, 6 smart and 3 charm.

I have enough favor with the Order of Socrate to get hypnotism, but I am also tempted to get either advance rule bending, intermediary sweet talking or Research which, from experience, can have a huge impact by innocenting a suspect.

What do you recommend me?

I would suggest sweet talking as u will have a greater chance of suspects not clamming, after that u should get the rule bending as this will help with the townspeople clamming.

I agree with dreamcatcher. In general faction skills should be the last ones you get. After rule bending I suggest research. When you get it, use it after every new suspect revealed. That way you avoid asking someone their alibi when you don't need to.

The charming interview skills and research are all good choices. If it were me I'd go for research. It costs the most skill points and skill points will gradually be harder to come by. I'd wait with hypnosis for a while. Lock picking is actually more useful than hypnosis.

Hypnosis works randomly, based on charm adjustment. Lock picking will always work and you can skip two townies to ask for either motives or alibis.

Pardon, I meant suspects and not townies.

Lock picking works every time, but you can't always use it.

When are you unable to use it? You can always use it ON THE FIRST VISIT to that suspect. After that, you're SOL. You get one chance but IME you can always use it as long as you've discovered the relevant suspect.

Badass is right, the longer you play (i.e. the more XP you have), the harder it gets to earn skill points so keep that in mind.

Not all suspects are away when you visit them. Some are still home. In fact, I would say most of them would be home and only a minority would be away.

What I wonder about regarding lockpicking is whether when one uncovers motives, if it is the same list of motives that would be got from asking the suspect without hypnotism or if it includes extra suspects (such as when a suspect is hypnotised successfully). If that is not the case, then picking a lock to find motives may actually generate less motives than if one had asked the person directly with successful hypnotism (obviously, one should choose lockpicking over wasting a question any day, it is just something I was wondering about).

As for skills, I would personally get intermediate sweet talking, then research. Hypnotism comes in handy in higher level cases, when the list of suspect grows and people get clammy really quickly. Sweet talking, on the other hand, works on finding out motives and evidence alike (which is what you need to successfuly solve the case). And research automatically helps you rule out one suspect with false or no alibi, which is really useful. I hope that was helpful :)

Btw, I absolutely concede that lockpicking is more useful than hypnotism.
