I've been doing RP since the 80's and writing it since about then as well, though not nearly as much until the 90's when I joined what used to be the Lycos Community Boards. I began a forum there for people of like mind to come and write with me. We developed characters and wrote AS those characters. I had a pub that we all gathered in where we wrote short or long pieces and another place that was dedicated to an ongoing story line. Most of us were online together and writing in response to each other, which is what RP is all about. By the time the Lycos Community closed we had over 4000 pages of posts, just in the pub.

Sleuth is a really good venue for doing something similar. Breit and I wrote pages and pages of stuff, just in Omegas' message boards before my health became too much of an issue and I left the game. Basically, someone writes something and other people come in and write as if they are answering or talking to that person, or doing something based on what that person wrote about. I'll give an example by posting an opening storyline.

The key fit in the lock, but, it was a tight fit and it tried to be stubborn. Della gave it a little persuasion and the deadbolt grudgingly slid back into its recess. The door creaked open on long unused hinges and allowed sunlight to spread inward. Cobwebs coated the ceiling and floated on the slight breeze that danced through the open door with the sun.

Della brushed a cobweb out of her hair and stepped inside to the middle of the main room. Turning slowly, she surveyed the old pub, or what was left of it. "Gads," she said to the spiders, "What was the old coot thinking?" Not expecting an answer, she moved around the large main room, inspecting everything. She absently wiped dirt from a window pane and brought a little more light inside.

((In RP writing, all comments that are made out of character, (OOC), are placed between double parenthesis. This is usually done as a separate post from the in character writing.))
((And, as you can see, I left off in a place where someone could step in and write a conversation, (hopefully within the context of the previous writing, lol), such as "The "old coot" probably wasn't thinking." and then writing about what they see, (imagine), in the room(s). It gets easier the more you do it.))
