also, im actually kind of shocked that so few people know. i thought it was supposed to be something you know like you know what medications you're allergic to. Plus if you donate blood they usually tell you what type you are. i guess like breit, im a bit unusual.

It's not that common to find out over here. Like I said I only found out because of pregnancy as they have to know whether you're rhesus neg or not.

They don't inform you when you donate blood?
And pregnancy was exactly what I was thinking of Helen. It seems like that would be fairly common....

Yes, they inform you when you donate blood. The problem is that very few people donate (it's a huge problem in the U.S.). Unfortunately, I'm unable to donate (that darned mad cow thing those pesky Brits have to deal with ;-), so it makes things a bit difficult for me at the blood bank. :-/

Yes, lack of blood donors is a huge problem. Even at my work where you get perks to donate, a lot of people don't.
