There will be 3 activities this week. All events will start on Thursday, August 11, 12:00 AM, SST. Last week was a sprint. This week (and next) is a marathon. Good luck. ;-)

1. Treasure Hunts - Week 1
This event will last TWO weeks. You need to complete a total of six hunts, 3 Single-City, and 3 Multi-City. Any hunt opened before Thursday, August 11, 12:00 AM, SST, will be discarded. Hunts can start in any city, and be from any faction. All teams get 30 points for each hunt they participate in. Teams who win a hunt get 100 points. Once teams have completed all hunts, they are ineligible from further competition in this activity.

Hunts will be divided under the following categories:

Prizes you can Wear.
Prizes you can Hold.
Prizes you can Use.

For example, The Sacred Atlas of Al Capone is a Multi-City hunt currently being run out of Delhi. An atlas is NOT something you can wear. It is, however, something you can hold, or use, so it would qualify for the second or third categories, but not the first. Another example, The Golden Ring of Al Capone, is a Single-City hunt currently being run out of Shanghai. A ring is something you can wear and hold, but not use. So it would qualify for the first and second categories, but not the third. Teams may determine which categories their prizes fall under, but only one category may be used for one prize. You must use 3 Single-City hunts in each category, and 3 Multi-City hunts. If you have a question about what category a prize falls into, please PM the Judges (Breitkat, Riza, or Squirrel).

2. Scavenger Hunt - Week 1
This is part one of two. Teams have ONE week to complete this activity. All teams must empty their Lockers of all IH favor reward items, unless they are a part of a member's uniform. Please send a screenshot to Riza Hawkeye when you have done so for verification. Please also remember that we have an honour system in place for this competition, and we are trusting you NOT to hoard things in your Apartments.

I did not expect this to read on the boards when I woke up...

I can fully understand how Autumn feels. All I can say is that this was handled all wrong from the start, from what I've read and heard, and I hope she and Breit can resolve their issues.

However, I do hope this'll be taken into account for the next Olympics and there should be clear rules how to deal with illness / sickness and potential replacements for said person(s).

As to Devilishwings - I agree that being censored isn't right at all, since everyone has a freedom of speech, but I can understand the reasoning behind it; this sort of thing is best taken care of "behind the scenes" instead of in the public here, as to allow the parties to resolve their issues properly and without any external influences :)

That is all, just wanted to add my two cents to the topic.

I'd like to say that the only reason I did this publicly is because Breit chose to make a public post (meaning EVERYONE can see it) asking people to babysit me essentially.

If she thought I needed caretakers, she should have chosen a few trusted friends and sent them private PMs. She didn't keep it private so neither did I. And I'd also like to note that if my comment was worthy of deletion, Breit's was as well. This has been a cluster**** from the beginning.
I know Breit was doing this with good intentions. Everyone was, although I have no idea about squirrel.

She did it because she cared, she thought I was pushing myself too hard (I was), and she thought this was the best way to handle it. She has apologized and admitted it could have been handled better. We all live and learn.

I've learned to keep my distance from "friends" who will discuss me behind my back, make decisions FOR me as if I'm a 3 year old, and delete things they find inflammatory or controversial or "pm worthy."

I realize this may make me appear "foot stampy and petulant," or like "a tool," or even "irrational and unreasonable."

I truly feel hurt and betrayed by all this. I think I'm entitled to voice my feelings.

As to quote Vulkie

"However, I do hope this'll be taken into account for the next Olympics and there should be clear rules how to deal with illness / sickness and potential replacements for said person(s)."

I agree. As of now we have two agencies with 5 members. I'm sure there are good reasons for this (especially in Autumn's case) but I think it should also be announced who will be temporarily out of action and who will replace this person. Furthermore I think the person who needs a break must also leave the agency and can always be invited back of course. Not saying that there is any unfair advantage going on per se but any shred of perception should be avoided. You know what I'm talking about right? Extra cases and such.

I also agree, but in all fairness this is the first time for this event. And I'm quiet sure it will take several more Olympics before most issues will be ironed out and the games run smoothly. We are the lucky first, the guinea pigs.

I want to assure everyone that even though we are highly competitive at Rick's, we believe in fair play.
And winning using unfair advantages is not winning, but a loss of ones character and values.

I believe that the vast majority of people who are part of the Sleuth community would you agree with you Sultry about fair play. And most of you probably know each other better than I know any one of you. My fault. I am not a socially gifted person and because I don't understand a lot of the nuances of social interaction it exhausts me when interacting with people I don't know well. I guess I wasn't socialized as a child. :)

However, I think just a blanket "Oh, we trust everybody," is a little naive. And even if a person is honest, when the chips are down and there is no accountability, anyone can be tempted to cross a line. And while I realize this is just a game within a game and what will it matter in a hundred years, I think there should be clear rules and guidelines for how different situations are to be dealt with and the potential for any dishonesty eliminated as much as possible.

Having said all that, I do agree with you and realize that this is the first time something like this has been done and certainly no one can think of everything. We all learn as we go along to some extent.

But I stick with my statement that the idea that "everyone should just trust everyone else" is a little naive.

Rules and guidelines benefit everyone. Not only do they eliminate the temptation for dishonesty (or as much as that can possibly be done), but they also give the winner a clear and definite victory. There can be no doubt that the winner achieved their win by their own honest efforts and on their own merit. And I think THAT is something everyone wants.

Of course we're all beta-testing this event. But there's no point in beta-testing if there's no feedback.

This being said I am aware this is not a small thing to do so kudos to those who have sacrificed their time and effort to make it all happen.

*Whistle blows*

Okay, timeout, people.

Vulkie, bring out the ice cream, on me. Thank you. ;-)

Now. There's several things going on here that I'll try to address briefly so we can get back to the Games.

I am *INCREDIBLY, FANTASTICALLY* glad to say that Autumn is doing much better. Thank God. And yes, she and I have spent a great deal of the past 36 hours having a heart-to-heart discussion.

I did ask for the community's help, because I thought that if I did it privately, I would be accused of being secretive and conspiratorial. I asked for the public's assistance to help Autumn, and I'm now a rat for asking for aid from her friends with a life-saving issue. I can't win here, and I refuse to go back and muddle over what could have been. So. Anyone who has a problem with my decisions or what happened, come find me, and we'll have a chat. Otherwise, Amber is feeling better, she's expected to be able to come back to Sleuth and fully rejoin her team shortly, so problem solved.

Now, for the "censorship" issues. Amber, and the rest of the community, have a right to post their opinions and feelings on the boards as they wish. I have no problem with ANYTHING that has been posted here, INCLUDING Amber's (and Devi's) comments. However, the Moderators have a job to do, and they have VERY specific rules to follow. Squirrel was a Moderator for a decade before he moved up to Admin, so he's been doing it for a fair bit. I would think he knows what he's doing. If he felt a post was delete worthy, I won't fight him. The Moderators have an extremely difficult job to do, and they do it to the best of their abilities. I believe VERY strongly in freedom of speech, but I do feel that the leaders of the community need to be respected.

There have been two Agencies over the past few days that have needed help, one that informed the Judges publicly, and one privately. I sent Substitutes to both Agencies while their members were unavailable for various reasons (and I am NOT going into that right now). David Adams is also conducting Olympics administration business, so he will be visiting ALL of the teams. Bottom line, yes, there are two groups with five people in them. Last week, we had one group with five people in it. There's a legitimate reason for it. Anyone with a problem about this can come find me, and we'll have a chat. So, problem solved, people. Next issue.

When we send a Substitute to an Agency, we expect the missing Detective to not use any of their cases. That's what the Sub is for. We mentioned at the start of the Olympics that if any team had a member who could not participate for a particular emergency reason (I don't feel like it is NOT an acceptable excuse), that we would do everything in our power to find them a Sub while their member was unable to be there. Teams should not be handicapped because they are not at full strength for legitimate reasons, and I think everyone here would agree with me on that. Therefore, we will continue to provide Substitutes to teams, as long as they can provide a legitimate reason for their team member being unavailable. You do NOT need to broadcast it on the boards; just come discuss your issue with Riza, Squirrel, and/or me, and we'll be happy to help.
