The Arch Villain Hunt

Choose two detectives from your team. Those two players will do an Arch-Villain hunt, with the usual rules applying for a tournament. Both detectives have until Wednesday, August 10, to capture their villains. Hunters may travel up to Shangri-La the previous night (Wednesday, August 3), but ANYONE who starts a hunt before Thursday, 12:00, SST, will be disqualified (so make VERY sure you don't do it). Scores will be determined on a team basis, and by days, not time (people overseas won't have to be up at odd hours of the night to deal with Server times this way). Anyone traveling through Cairo MUST either post it on the boards, or send a PM to Riza or Breit announcing that they are (we WILL be verifying that). Sidekick cases are banned, as usual. Apartment and Agency gear is legal. If, for some reason, there are technical issues with the servers, all hunters will be given extra time to complete their hunts.

An individual hunter's number of days will be counted up, added to his/her teammate's number of days, and the lowest combined sum will be the winner. The first TEAM to capture their villains will receive 10 points. Second team to capture will receive 7. Third will receive 5, and fourth will receive 3. All teams receive 3 participation points each for each AV hunter on their team (I.E. - 6 points total).

If, for some reason, you guess wrong, and fail a hunt, DO NOT QUIT. Go back to Shangri-La and start over. BOTH members of the team must capture in order to receive placement points. So keep going (even if you takes you four times, voice of experience talkin' here ;-).

The Cairo Scavenger Hunt

For the other two detectives from your team, you will be going to Cairo (big surprise there ;-). You need to complete ten favors from EACH of the townspeople in Cairo, in no particular order. Once you have completed a favor from a townsperson, you MUST make a screenshot at the end (completion) of the favor, like this:

I'll take that statement back - I just reread the thread and they're indeed allowed. This is why I should stick to ice-cream selling instead of trying to outsmart the smart people here :(

Devi, I'm starting my hunt in Cairo, too.

On the flip side, we'll get it out of the way and won't have to dread it the rest of our hunt. :)

Hey there again,

Just had another idea for the contestants who participate in the Item Hunting competition:

Wouldn't it be better for the contestants to make a Google Document, share it with their fellow item hunter (of the same team), copy paste all the screenshots in there and share the document with the judges once they're done? Also, it might be best if the people note the date / time when they've acquired their items - or would that be a bit redundant? Just thinking out loud here for y'all :)

The one document might make it easier on Riza. As far as the time stamp idea, my team mate has already played their cases and now it would be difficult to place a time on when they where acquired.

A few things I would like to address:

1) I'm tracking the VH portion of this week's competition, so please PM me if you're going through Cairo so I can give the proper deductions. Thanks to those who've already done this.

2) I would not suggest reading an entire RP thread in preparation for next week, as that is quite time-consuming and you need to be focusing your attention on other things right now.

3) Whether you want to send me the screenshots all at once or one at a time is up to you. All I need for that is the name of the townie and what the prize is, nothing else.

Here is a site where you can upload your pictures. It will generate a shareable link.

Any other method of image-sharing is also acceptable. I'll be around for tech support if you need it. Just shoot me a message.

Hey Riza,

Thanks for the clarification, appreciate it :)

I didn't intend for any misunderstanding regarding point 2, I only meant for people to check out a portion of a story (first 2 or 3 pages max) to see how an RP works, get a taste of it - I now realise that my message seems like people should read a whole story and that would take hours, if not, days. Time which can be better spent on nabbing those villains or grabbing those items!

Again, I'm still offering helpful tips and points to those who have trouble with writing an RP - part and also, before I forget to mention, this will stop when the RP challenge begins, as to ensure that everyone has a fair shot at it :)

Riza, would you like an ice-cream waffle as well? It's not a bribe, you know! Just something to enjoy as you keep on watching the contestants break their backs on their tasks :)

Since you're in Holland, Vulkie, could you send me one of those waffles with pink icing? You know the ones they sell in Amsterdam in the little food stalls that cater to coffee shop tourists who get the munchies.

Vulkie I think that's a good idea! A lot of people aren't really sure how RP goes, and i don't think they should be at a disadvantage just because they've never done it before. I think reading the first few pages should be enough to give them an idea of what's expected. And knowing what's expected is always helpful. Reading an entire story or two would not only be time consuming but could also be overwhelming.

I don't consider myself very good at RP so I will probably read a few pages to bone up on it. Assuming my villain gives me a chance to breathe.

I'm coming for you Weasel!!!
