The Arch Villain Hunt

Choose two detectives from your team. Those two players will do an Arch-Villain hunt, with the usual rules applying for a tournament. Both detectives have until Wednesday, August 10, to capture their villains. Hunters may travel up to Shangri-La the previous night (Wednesday, August 3), but ANYONE who starts a hunt before Thursday, 12:00, SST, will be disqualified (so make VERY sure you don't do it). Scores will be determined on a team basis, and by days, not time (people overseas won't have to be up at odd hours of the night to deal with Server times this way). Anyone traveling through Cairo MUST either post it on the boards, or send a PM to Riza or Breit announcing that they are (we WILL be verifying that). Sidekick cases are banned, as usual. Apartment and Agency gear is legal. If, for some reason, there are technical issues with the servers, all hunters will be given extra time to complete their hunts.

An individual hunter's number of days will be counted up, added to his/her teammate's number of days, and the lowest combined sum will be the winner. The first TEAM to capture their villains will receive 10 points. Second team to capture will receive 7. Third will receive 5, and fourth will receive 3. All teams receive 3 participation points each for each AV hunter on their team (I.E. - 6 points total).

If, for some reason, you guess wrong, and fail a hunt, DO NOT QUIT. Go back to Shangri-La and start over. BOTH members of the team must capture in order to receive placement points. So keep going (even if you takes you four times, voice of experience talkin' here ;-).

The Cairo Scavenger Hunt

For the other two detectives from your team, you will be going to Cairo (big surprise there ;-). You need to complete ten favors from EACH of the townspeople in Cairo, in no particular order. Once you have completed a favor from a townsperson, you MUST make a screenshot at the end (completion) of the favor, like this:

Badass: and I'm sure the organizing committee would be glad to point this out but I think they have enough tools ...

Yep, the Organization Committee is full of tools!

Thanks to Dany for keeping me to the task at hand :) We enjoyed looking through all the Agencies. I really had forgotten what RP agencies are like. I'd definitely fall on the side of method over madness, and would probably make a better member of Chariots than the Assassins. :)

We will have to get Sasha, our leopard mascot, to *help* with the bribe next time :)

Thank you to the judges- you guys had a tough job! Congrats to Rick's, spectacular website! Don't get too cocky though, the game is just starting :)

Squirrel I think we should get extra points. You know how much I loathe Role Play, it nearly killed me writing as much as I did :D

RP is great for the RP'ers who've gone down this path, but it's not 'necessary' per se. You can create a competitive team environment that is engaging to read just by being enthusiastic about the task at hand.

Okay, time to answer several questions and points that have come up.

First, Sidekick cases are NOT allowed for anyone throughout the competition (very few people have access to them, therefore the playing field in general is off balance). This is an honour code kind of thing, but we're trusting that those that do have them will only use your allotted 12 regular cases per day (again, any cases you have in your Apartments or Agencies, if you can access them, are legal). A recruitment drive is not on the books for this Olympics, but it may be an event in a future Games.

Second, the Clerk is there for both your protection and the Judges' help. If we have a question about a particular scavenger item down the road, the Clerk will have a record of it, and Squirrel won't have to go trolling through reams of records just to track down one Fancy Fedora. And if you guys have a question about who used what item that you came to the Agency with, you have a record of it. So. PLEASE keep the Clerk hired for the duration of the competition. Thank you. ;-)

Now, I'd like to make a couple of comments about the Judges' evaluation and the Agencies.

The Judges had two main comments/criticisms about the agencies. One, that there wasn't much in the way of Olympic content. And two, that they hadn't seen everyone from all the teams submit content.

There's been a bit of a hullabaloo raised about the Olympic content thing. One team thought they should have won because they supposedly had the only team name that was Olympic in nature. Various people were confused about how their Agencies were supposed to be tied to the Olympics, and other things.

I thought up this whole thing based on the idea of taking the Olympic games (various teams from different countries), and the spirit behind it, and applying to it different events or activities that we could do here in Sleuth. Teams were put together based on two criteria: experience levels, first and foremost, and each team had to have an experienced hunter and an experienced writer on each one; it's that simple.

I gave teams the instructions that I did for a couple of reasons. One, I knew that you all had a short time span to do your task, and I simply wanted you all to get SOMETHING accomplished (if I had tacked an Olympics theme on top of it, I can pretty much guarantee that there would have been ten times the panic, and no teams put together). Two, I wanted to see what you all could do, so I deliberately gave you all very loose rules to play with. And three, I knew that all of you were going to have several more weeks to work on your agencies, and you could improve your Olympics stuff in that time.

Turns out, I was right on all three counts. You all got four fantastic teams put together; you all put a huge amount of creativity and originality into your work, and you now have a starting point to improve upon, and put more Olympic content into your work. So. Good going, everyone!! Keep it up. ;-)

Now for the second point from the Judges. I know that you all only had a week to put together your groups and put up your work, and I do realize that some of you are NOT big on writing. But, you all had the same time frame, and you all were expected to work together as a team. If you're not an experienced writer, GET HELP from one of your teammates. EVERYONE is expected to contribute to the team, both in hunting AND in writing. The experts are there as a resource, not as slaves. They will NOT be doing all of the work for the entire team.

So. If you have a team member who hasn't contributed his/her fair share, start contacting them now. All teams are expected to be communicating with each of their group members on a DAILY basis. (And yes, I do have a fair idea about who the non-contributors have been up til now.) You're on warning. Get yer act together. Please.

Okay, places at the line, everyone. Hope the AV hunters are in Shangri-La. Cairo hunters, good luck!!

On your Marks!!

Get Set!!

GGGGOOOO!!!!!! ;-D ;-D ;-D
