One of the most prominent yet elusive people of Sleuthville, the legendary Big Lucy herself, is hitting a new milestone in life. While none are bold enough to inquire her age, rumors say this is a momentous occasion. The guest list is comprised of the most prominent and affluent people in Sleuthville and beyond.

However, some of Sleuthville's own working class have been invited-- not as guests, but as special operatives to patrol the event. They have been selected for their swiftness, skill, and intelligence. They will be entrusted with making sure that Big Lucy's Birthday Bash goes off without a hitch. But, as always, there are those who would rather see the event go down in flames.

A mere three minutes before the event is scheduled to start, the operatives are informed of an alarming development. There has been a breach within the ranks, and a number of spies have infiltrated the group! Having never seen each others' faces, there is no way to discern whose allegiance is true. The team has been compromised, but there is still a chance to save the evening.

The operatives' job this evening is to make sure Big Lucy's birthday celebration goes off without a hitch. If she is pleased at the end of the night, it is almost guaranteed that they will lead easy lives from thereon out. Whispers say Big Lucy may be more forgiving on her big day, but even she has her limits...

Will Big Lucy's birthday bash be a huge success, or will it succumb to the sabotage of the spies? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

I think Marc's decision to not use his no confidence ability is interesting. I would think a spy would want to be leader. Unless he already knows there is a spy leading it. I think it's possible he's a spy. Maybe Joseph is as well. But I don't think we have enough info on him yet.

That being said, as a resistance member, if I were a spy I probably wouldn't have used it either. Maybe wouldn't occur to me. This game challenges and changed the way you think about things.

Yeti, what are your thoughts about Marc's decision?

Hmm I still think it's possible that people are a bit clueless/learning but fair enough I get what you're saying and it makes sense. I'm clearly not as methodical/logical as you though because that thought didn't even occur to me haha.

Keira, so pleased it's not just me :)

I've just had a bit more recent experience with the game, Ms Helen. Give it another couple of days and you'll start questioning the motives of your loved ones bringing you a cup of tea.

Autumn, as Marc is on the team there's no point him using it either way. Either he's a spy and that's exactly where he wants to be, or he's Resistance and if the mission is sabotaged he knows it's between his two team mates, giving him a lead. In fact the only real reason for him to use it would be if he and you were spies, as one does not want two spies on a team.

Mission 1 Result:

Joseph and his team pushed and swerved their way through the crowd and bolted up the stairs two at a time. Why did it have to be a grand staircase? The chandelier swayed back and forth like a guillotine. It was due to fall any second.

Three-quarters of the way up the staircase, a shiny spot on a step went unnoticed by the team. The next instant there was a yelp and loud clattering noises, accompanied by cursing, as Joseph, Marc, and Autumn found themselves sprawled unbecomingly across the steps.

The audience watched as the chandelier plummeted downwards and landed with a crash squarely atop Big Lucy. Shrieks emerged from the crowd and several people surged forward to help. The shadow of Big Lucy's second-in-command loomed over the team.

Mission 1 consisting of Joseph Zeo, M. Lacrimosa, and Autumnsprings was a FAILURE.

The team members voted as follows:
???? SUCCESS
???? SABOTAGE
???? SUCCESS

Ms Helen, leadership will now pass to you for the next mission.

Good point yeti.

Dammit! I knew my short legs were going to be a liability. :( I voted success (for what my word is worth, lol.)
I have a theory on something but I want to give it a little time and a little more thought before I suggest it. But I think I know who the spy was.

I'm too confused at the moment to try and deceive anyone. I'm going to bone up on the past resistance games this evening (links kindly provided by the announcer) so hopefully I'll understand more what I'm doing by tomorrow so I can properly deceive all of you. ;)

Aww flip does that mean I have to pick a team next?

Am I allowed to ask for advice from the other players?

Mission 2: Dangerous Drinks

Thanks to the aid of several doctors present at the event, Big Lucy was not seriously harmed, only slightly shaken up and very outraged. It was evident that there had been a breach in the ranks of the security team, and neither she nor her second-in-command was happy about it.

By the time Bruno had finished berating the team, the crowd had mostly calmed down and was enjoying some conversation over drinks being catered by men in white. Big Lucy, never one to appear weak, was mingling with some of her guests in a dimly lit section of the hall.

"Oi! Bring Lucy a drink!" Bruno shouted at no one in particular. A server appeared from the kitchens bearing a tray of champage flutes and offered one to Lucy. She gracefully took it.

"Very unprofessional to send out your staff wearing mismatched uniforms, don't you think?" a man said to his companion. This comment caught Ms Helen's ear, and she turned to see her for herself. Indeed, the server who had just given Big Lucy that glass was dressed in white, but the pattern on his uniform was slightly different.

"No..." There was a sea of people milling between herself and Big Lucy. Ms Helen signalled to the others on her team that something was wrong. They had to get there quickly, before she took a sip.

Mission 2 will consist of FOUR team members.

Ms Helen, the team leader, has been given three advantages to distribute to whomever she sees fit. They are:

-OPEN UP: The receiver will have their allegiance revealed to a player of their choosing. Must be used immediately.
-KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON YOU: Receiver of this card may look at one team member's action (Success/Sabotage) on a mission they are on, after the results of the mission are in.
-NO CONFIDENCE: Receiver of this card can veto a successful vote on a mission proposal, causing it to fail and forcing leadership to move to the next player on the list.

Ms Helen, please assign these abilities when you're ready.

If Joseph would like to use his STRONG LEADER ability, he must do so before Ms Helen distributes abilities or proposes a team. If not, then we will proceed with Ms Helen.

Discussion and paranoia are both welcome. :)

I realized while driving home that thankfully it's only the spies who have to deceive. However, by tomorrow I will know how to spot each and every one of you dirty scoundrels. >)
