One of the most prominent yet elusive people of Sleuthville, the legendary Big Lucy herself, is hitting a new milestone in life. While none are bold enough to inquire her age, rumors say this is a momentous occasion. The guest list is comprised of the most prominent and affluent people in Sleuthville and beyond.

However, some of Sleuthville's own working class have been invited-- not as guests, but as special operatives to patrol the event. They have been selected for their swiftness, skill, and intelligence. They will be entrusted with making sure that Big Lucy's Birthday Bash goes off without a hitch. But, as always, there are those who would rather see the event go down in flames.

A mere three minutes before the event is scheduled to start, the operatives are informed of an alarming development. There has been a breach within the ranks, and a number of spies have infiltrated the group! Having never seen each others' faces, there is no way to discern whose allegiance is true. The team has been compromised, but there is still a chance to save the evening.

The operatives' job this evening is to make sure Big Lucy's birthday celebration goes off without a hitch. If she is pleased at the end of the night, it is almost guaranteed that they will lead easy lives from thereon out. Whispers say Big Lucy may be more forgiving on her big day, but even she has her limits...

Will Big Lucy's birthday bash be a huge success, or will it succumb to the sabotage of the spies? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

Autumn is so excited about this game. She has pulled me in. I am up for a game. I will say that Autumn is a dirty rotten spy. :0) (She is so competitive, she will probably try to kill me irl for being a spy. Haha.)

I won't talk about it with her. Let's have some fun!

J finishes cleaning his .45 caliber M1911 pistol, reloads the clip and chambers a round, before placing it back in his well worn shoulder holster. He reaches for the glass of whiskey sitting on the desk and takes another drink as he looks at the letter that caused him to make the month long journey from the Himalayan kingdom of Shangri-la.

...Big Lucy is having a big birthday bash. Nothing special there, but apparently while he had been away, Lucy had managed to make the kind of enemies that required his specific skill set. Not that he and Lucy hadn't had their fair share of disagreements, but when this particular old girl asks for help, it's worth coming back out into the world to lend a hand.

J checks his pockets and feels the almost forgotten but still familiar weight of brass knuckles. He tucks a heavy sap into his coat pocket, and straps a backup revolver to his ankle next to a knife. He has a feeling that each of these items might get some use before the party is over.

J finishes the whiskey, and then leaves the hotel room to head to the church. It has been years since his last confession. But more importantly, the Arcanum Brotherhood could help him get a lay of the land in New York so that he wasn't walking into this thing blind.

Autumn gets to the venue early to get acquainted with the space. It was a large ballroom with cathedral ceilings and huge pillars around the perimeter. Tucked into the edge of the ballroom were little nooks with luxurious couches and comfortable chairs covered in supple leather or soft fabrics. Lots of places to hide or to meet with someone to go over nefarious plans. Hmmmm. She tapped her chin thoughtfully.

She noticed there were balconies above the dance floor. Seeing the staircase tucked into a corner and curving around out of sight, she made her way to the upper floor. After walking around a bit she decided the upper floor would be too far from any action that may happen and went back to the main floor.

Finding a good spot to watch people without drawing attention to herself, she settled in to wait for the festivities to begin.

That's right Autumn, you can carry on with regular communications. Just don't talk about this game outside of the thread. :)

Mission 1: Chandelier Chaos

As the final guests trickle their way into the hall, an order is given for the doors to be shut. Music begins to play, and lights are directed toward the grand staircase, atop which where Big Lucy stands in an elegant black dress. Only her body up to her neck is illuminated; her face remains shrouded in darkness.

As she begins her descent, the music suddenly cuts out. Everyone looks at each other in confusion. Big Lucy freezes and swivels her head around, but says nothing. The only sound which can be heard above the nervous murmuring of the guests is a soft tinkling...

A high-pitched scream emerges from the crowd. "The chandelier!" a woman exclaims, pointing at the ornate fixture right above Big Lucy's head. It is precariously rocking from side to side.

Big Lucy's second-in-command, a burly giant, rushes up to Joseph Zeo. "Grab some of your people and save her!" he bellows.

Joseph Zeo is the leader for Mission 1.

Mission 1 will consist of THREE team members.

The first team leader has been given three advantages to distribute to whomever he sees fit. They are:

-NO CONFIDENCE: Receiver of this card can veto a successful vote on a mission proposal, causing it to fail and forcing leadership to move to the next player on the list.
-STRONG LEADER: Whoever receives this can use it to immediately become the leader, taking leadership away from the current leader. This can only be used BEFORE the current leader has given out abilities or proposed a mission team.
-OPINION MAKER: Receiver of this card must vote first publicly whether or not to approve a mission for the rest of the game. Must be used immediately.

Joseph, please assign these abilities when you're ready. Keeping an ability for yourself is also acceptable.

So, I am to go first *sweaty palms*... To be honest, I really have no idea how to play this game. Not 100% sure how all three abilities work either, but I'll just try as we play. Abilities assignments--

-NO CONFIDENCE: Marc Lacrimosa
-STRONG LEADER: Myself
-OPINION MAKER: Autumnsprings

The chandelier above Big Lucy's head precariously rocked from side to side. Joseph's heart jumped.

"Grab some of your people and save her!" Bruno yelled to Joseph. Zeo looked to those around him, who can he trust?

"Only myself, really," he murmured, but then he spotted Marc Lacrimosa and Autumnsprings, whom he hoped are reliable people.

"Marc, Autumn! Hurry, follow me!" Joseph called out. The three looked up the grand staircase.

(i realize everyone has to approve the team first, so i'll pause the action here)
