In just under six weeks, the 31st Summer Olympics and the 15th Paralympics will occur in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Athletes from over 190 countries around the world will gather to compete in some 35 different overall sports over a period of about 3 weeks.

Many people have commented recently that they would like to see some more activities taking place here on Sleuth. A few of us creatively evil types were wondering if we put together a series of activities for people, would y'all be interested??

We are looking for at least 8-12 people, of all experience levels; both hunters (treasure, casework, and Arch Villain) and writers will be needed. People will be competing in a team format. We're probably looking at Subbed players for now, but we're working on having at least two activities (not necessarily part of the teams, but supplemental to them) that will be exclusive to UNSUBBED players. All of these activities will have an Olympics theme.

So. Any takers?? ;-)

Please let us know below.

Thank you!!
Breit

Of course, throwing frying pans is pretty random and crazy!

DUCK!

and it appears I have no control.

Thank goodness, I have never been compelled to be a Sultry, nightclub singer. ;)

Thank goodness it's just frying pans. Could have been microwave ovens or worse.

Olympics Week 1 Writing Competition: Haikus

Each competing agency will be responsible for submitting 3 different haikus on the Olympics thread. They MUST all be Olympic-themed and set pre-1940. Please focus your attention on the Olympics aspect. You do not need to mention the time period; we just don't want to hear about things which weren't invented yet or things which hadn't happened yet. This is fairly open-ended so as to allow for creativity.

However, you must adhere to the traditional haiku format of 17 syllables in 3 lines, split as such:

Five syllables first
Seven syllables second
Five syllables last

(^ also an example of a haiku, albeit a bad one)

Things to think about when writing: Where/when is this taking place? What images or sensory experiences can be evoked? How can the sound or rhythm of the haiku be used to support these images? What mood are you trying to achieve?

Please designate one person from each agency to post the haikus. Submissions are due by August 10 at 0:00 server time, so you have from now through next Tuesday to work on them. Entries will be judged by a panel of three, myself included.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me.

That would still work...1936 summer Olympics Berlin..Hitler presided...

Now to fan the flames….

" I really don't want to cause a stir, but I was just wondering when the judges were going to post the scores. Curiosity just might kill Tilly (she's our agency feline),and she was hoping to enter the kitty litter toss competition. "

I might need to borrow some of that kitty litter Tilly. : )

Hey Sultry,

If I recall from my convo with Breit, she said that the judges would announce their scores within 2-3 days.

But that's just a general guideline, so don't stick by it :)

And kitty litter? You need kitty litter? I wonder for what reason...

I think Sultry is preparing the kitty litter as a surprise in both directions - competitiors if her agency is winning this; judges if not... :)
Sultry can be mean, believe me guys!

Chuckle. Yeah, Sultry, some of us do have the occasional funny bone around here. (And Missy may be joining in on that kitty litter toss. ;-)

WOW!! Go away for 12 hours or so to try and get some shut-eye, and we suddenly have the whole place erupting. Fair enough.

I'll have the Official Schedule for the hunts up shortly. And guys, try not to burn the place, or each other, down, while I'm gone, okay?? (Pierre de Courbertain never had to worry bout this kinda stuff with his people, sigh. But he didn't have criminologists and arsonists to deal with either. ;-)

The Arch Villain Hunt

Choose two detectives from your team. Those two players will do an Arch-Villain hunt, with the usual rules applying for a tournament. Both detectives have until Wednesday, August 10, to capture their villains. Hunters may travel up to Shangri-La the previous night (Wednesday, August 3), but ANYONE who starts a hunt before Thursday, 12:00, SST, will be disqualified (so make VERY sure you don't do it). Scores will be determined on a team basis, and by days, not time (people overseas won't have to be up at odd hours of the night to deal with Server times this way). Anyone traveling through Cairo MUST either post it on the boards, or send a PM to Riza or Breit announcing that they are (we WILL be verifying that). Sidekick cases are banned, as usual. Apartment and Agency gear is legal. If, for some reason, there are technical issues with the servers, all hunters will be given extra time to complete their hunts.

An individual hunter's number of days will be counted up, added to his/her teammate's number of days, and the lowest combined sum will be the winner. The first TEAM to capture their villains will receive 10 points. Second team to capture will receive 7. Third will receive 5, and fourth will receive 3. All teams receive 3 participation points each for each AV hunter on their team (I.E. - 6 points total).

If, for some reason, you guess wrong, and fail a hunt, DO NOT QUIT. Go back to Shangri-La and start over. BOTH members of the team must capture in order to receive placement points. So keep going (even if you takes you four times, voice of experience talkin' here ;-).

The Cairo Scavenger Hunt

For the other two detectives from your team, you will be going to Cairo (big surprise there ;-). You need to complete ten favors from EACH of the townspeople in Cairo, in no particular order. Once you have completed a favor from a townsperson, you MUST make a screenshot at the end (completion) of the favor, like this:
