If you have no clue what this means, Britain voted in a referendum to no longer be a member of the European Union.

The country was very divided over this issue (52% voted to leave, 48% to remain). Scotland and Northern Ireland on the other hand voted to remain in the EU and are thinking loudly to organize a poll themselves whether they still want to be a part of Great Britain or not.

Those in favor to leave the EU claim that Europe has become too much red tape and undermines sovereignty in hot issues such as immigration and refugees. Opponents of the Brexit fear a downfall of the economy and more international isolation for Britain.

Any thoughts on this?

Some have said (in the U.S., anyway) that it already has been political suicide. There's also talk of a re-vote now?? I'm a bit confused bout that one.

I know there are a million and one sides to all this, and I understand very little about it. I just hope that there's not a lot of violence, while people figure out what exactly they want to do.

For prime minister Cameron it was suicide. He promised a referendum during his election campaign in the hope it would take the wind out of the sails of the ultra nationalist parties. He really didn't see this coming and it exploded in his face.

There's talk about a re-vote in more than one way. Scotland is threatening with a new referendum about independence. Someone started a petition about organizing a new referendum in all of Britain as well. Funny thing is that the person who organized this was actually a "leave" sympathizer who started this before the outcome was known. He was afraid the "remain" side would win and was already working out a strategy if that would happen.

Now that his side won he deeply regrets his own initiative. Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party said before the referendum that he would demand a re-vote if the result was 52% - 48 %. Now that his side won with this exact score he should show some consistency and reject this outcome as well. If he wants to be taken seriously that is.
