This may be old news to some of you, and others won't be able to see them as it'll be browser based, but I've just discovered from the Detective Agency board that it's possible to use emoticons on these boards through Unicode. Here's a list of the various emoticons:

If you see one you like, click it on and copy the HTML Entity (Decimal) from the Meta section.

What's interesting is that the emoticons all look different on different platforms. On my computer they look one way (or only show up as a little "GIF Image" box), on my tablet another way, and on my smartphone still another.
