Unless you have the day from hell in Cairo tomorrow, I'll have to conceed defeat. Since I don't have the magic time machine to erase a full day. I actually had a good day today..3 cases in Delhi (2 repeat clues), 4 cases to travel to N.Y., 3 cases to capture, and my last 2 cases spent traveling to London.
Which, by the way, is a wonderful city. I've never had any problems with the good citizens. Just remember the tailor likes her earl gray with one sugar and a bit of kick added in, otherwise she can get a bit cross.

That's probably because you threaten the citizens of London with physical violence rather than charming pitter patter. I wouldn't concede defeat quite yet; I've only got one clue in Cairo and I only need to get *slightly* unlucky to not get all the clues I need. That said maybe you made the right call, I am on the side of the Gods after all.

K, I know I'm just getting back into the swing of things and it's been a very long time since I've done a vh, but to me, the image yeti posted looks like the foot contact was needed much more than the barber. Can someone more experienced (and recent) explain? For the life of me I can't figure out how he was able to solve that case based on that image, with just the barber, since the curly hair has a real alibi.

AIs have 7 or 8 fakes, right? He has 7 fakes, 1 undetermined. He can rule out 5 of the fakes based on either lack of evidence or research. That still leaves four footprints and 2 male threads to check. Is it just assumed he'll get up to four answers out of the shoemaker since he didn't have to check any alibis there? In other words, did he solve the case based on the information in that image alone or did he do further questioning?

Sorry for hijacking the post but it's driving me crazy. Thank you in advance for your patience and explanation.

Hey Autumnsprings! :)

That's a ten person case, making three reals and seven fakes (one of those being researched away), so I know the undetermined alibi is in fact a real one. All the physical evidence must match different suspects, so with three real alibis and four pieces of evidence each real alibi must match a bit of evidence. None of the reals can match the thread, therefore the murderer must match it instead. With only two fakes potentially matching the thread, and the Rug Merchant completely unquestioned, the guaranteed question from a bribe means there's no chance the case can be failed beyond a misclick.

Ah. Knowing it's a ten person does make it easier. :)

Thanks for the explanation! Like I said, it's been a looooooong time since I did a vh, and yesterday was the first time I've attempted AI cases since I've been back.

Thank you again.

I'll send you a PM about the particulars when I have a chance, Autumn. Bottom line, basically, there's one False Alibi (and no Real ones) that tie to the Male thread. That's your killer.

Hope that is a bit easier to understand. ;-)

Also, I wasn't clear if you were saying it narrowed things down enough that it made it unlikely you wouldn't solve it, or if it solved it for you. Knowing you still had more questions to ask makes me feel a little less dumb, lol.

You're not dumb for asking Autumnsprings. Since the actual deductions in Sleuth are based almost entirely on the underlying game mechanics you can't really be expected to go away for a few years AND remember all those rules.

Hey Sultry, Devi, look what I found!

Congratulations Yeti. You might end up facing Bela in a match this year. Sorry to say I won't be cheering you on to win, I placed my money on Bela.

Congratulations Bela on capturing your villain.
Good luck to everyone else.

Thank you Sultry, it was fun playing against you. :-) You should have put your money on me though!
