Is there any way to have character names reviewed before approval? I saw one today that I actually had to look twice at- there seem to be a rash of crude, vulgar, and offensive names lately and I know it would mean hard work for Ben, but maybe we could have some Mods do it? I would volunteer, if it would mean that I don't have to see names that my mother would have washed my mouth out with soap for saying (and still probably would!)

Have I missed something? If you can't change a name, and yet the name is the very first thing you choose before you even see the game, any suggestions would have to appear on that first create-a-new-detective screen. I don't like booting someone who's earned points and skills just because they couldn't read our minds on what would offend us. Too bad you can't change a name.

In defense of what I started this post about, Torrey, I don't think that the problem with names like cop killer or f**kup is that the creators couldn't read our minds. I was simply asking if we should have higher standards than that.

I use the offensive names as a sort of indicator about the person. I dont care its there , I ignore it. But it does tell me what kind of person it is, so I know for example I wouldnt hire someone like that.

lauraandgabriel, it would make this community more confusing if people could change names too easily, I think. I am in favor of better guidelines at the screen where the name is chosen, as well as consequences for clearly inappropriate names.

I second that Moonshh. Besides we would run out of names fast....and the offensive ones are left over. :)

Also Reda, I would agree, if someone chooses an offensive detective name. That says a lot about a person. I would say, they obviously have no intention to be part of this community, or perhaps even an agency.
