I've started work on the next update for Sleuth, and as promised it's going to be a content update. However, it's going to take a while before any of you see it, at least two months, potentially far longer than that.

Now I would hate to leave you all in the Sleuth wilderness, totally devoid of changes, so every one to two weeks I'll create an update from the suggestions you give here. An example of a small update (from the desk of Bela Talbot III) would be including your most recent fortune telling in the case file so long as you haven't discovered any new suspects since then.

Whilst this is going on I'll also fix up the small bugs lying around the game. For example, there's a certain accessory devouring fox that needs reining in, and possibly relocating. So don't worry about suggesting bug fixes here. Keep it to small things you'd like to see, or small annoyances you'd like changed.

How about a high score list for detectives who have never subscribed. I've seen several logged on an am impressed with their scores. I'm sure they would love to know their standing in that very exclusive group.

Wouldn't that encourage them to continue not subscribing?

I suppose so, then again after 2000 + days age , I don't suppose they are going to subscribe anytime soon.
Also I guess being on the top of that score board wouldn't be enough to keep me from subscribing. After all there is a lot of content they miss out on just to be a leader on a unsubbed high score list.

I'd like to see a new skill created that would unclam a townie that has already been bribed and is still needed.

Speaking of clammy (albeit permanently) suspects... Shades has "necromancy", and OK it's been broken for as long as I can remember, however I'd like to have a similar (but un-broken) skill in Noir, for reviving suspects who die mid-case, accessed via the fortune teller. Call it a 'neutral' skill, neither involving smarts, charm or tough, to save working out which archetype it belongs to. One question answered from beyond the grave... woooooooooooo < appropriate ghost noise.

Hey, i have now an suggestion. To bribe suspects for one more question. I will have to quit now one case because there's no way to arrest the killer. I found the killer, but i cannot arrest without knowing motive. And i don't know the motive (found her because of a townie), the other four suspects are one client, two not accepting interrogation and one dead.

Or, at least, we can try to do this necromancy thing.

Just brain storming, no need for immediate implementation :)

We agreed it would great to get the factions more involved. The factions already provide unique skills and items. Having the highest standing with a faction could also come with a unique perk. That perk of course will be gone once you don't have the highest standing anymore. Here's some suggestions and keep in mind they're only suggestions;

La Cosa Nostra - unclam an unwilling suspect once a day
Eastern Triads - unclam an unwilling townie once a day
Circle of Light - question a dead suspect once a day
Dies Arcanum - all worn gear worth +1
Green Hand - townies can be bribed for only half the price
Order of Socrates - research eliminates two suspect in one case a day

Some perks may seem more worthy than others. Then again the fight for the highest standing with that faction will also be more intense.

Kent, there are a couple things you can do to get a suspect's motive after you've had people clam on you. The easiest one is to subscribe and sign up for an Agency. That way, your colleagues can help you out with your cases. A second approach is to acquire a skill that's available overseas, which again, needs a subscription. There's prob'ly two or three more that I can't remember at the moment, but those 2 are the most common. Hope that helps a bit. ;-)

While I have the Powers That Be on the line...

I'm just getting used to this Detective Notes thing, and I'd like to say thank you for the update. It's not as easy to deal with as the Automated Sleuth Helper was, but I'm getting the hang of it (and if I can do it, trust me, any of you gumshoes should be able to run circles around me on the thing ;-).

There is one slight tweak that I'd like to ask for though. When you go to ask a townsperson to match a piece of evidence against a suspect, they will tell you yes or no (nothing new there). There's a tab to the upper right asking if you want to try and match the evidence against another suspect. My request is is there any way we can have a button that says "Match this suspect against ANOTHER Thread/Footprint/Whatever"?? Instead of having to go back and clicking on the second thread/footprint/whatever and then the person's name again? (This caveat, of course, only qualifies when you have 2 or more of a particular kind of evidence. ;-)

I hope that made at least an inkling of sense to somebody up there on the Throne. Again, thanks for listening to the rambling sermon of the day. Ever need any help with Creative Input, lemme know. ;-)

Thanks again!!
