I've started work on the next update for Sleuth, and as promised it's going to be a content update. However, it's going to take a while before any of you see it, at least two months, potentially far longer than that.

Now I would hate to leave you all in the Sleuth wilderness, totally devoid of changes, so every one to two weeks I'll create an update from the suggestions you give here. An example of a small update (from the desk of Bela Talbot III) would be including your most recent fortune telling in the case file so long as you haven't discovered any new suspects since then.

Whilst this is going on I'll also fix up the small bugs lying around the game. For example, there's a certain accessory devouring fox that needs reining in, and possibly relocating. So don't worry about suggesting bug fixes here. Keep it to small things you'd like to see, or small annoyances you'd like changed.

So that nobody has a heart attack thinking I thought it up, I have to say that Yeti came up with the actual solution; I just said that having something to note what the FT said would be neat since I always forget and end up checking three or four times. I had an idea later on for how it might work, but I forgot that too (which really highlighted how much noting down what the FT said mattered, since there was no way I could be trusted to remember it).

Oh, and yes to relocating the Fox that has Been the Downfall of Many! Or just doing anything about the Fox that...Many; it has been driving me crazy and I know of at least two people who can vouch for that.

And yay, and thank you for all the updates, Yeti :)

Fe fi fo fum, beware foxy, here I come! :D

I'm also glad about the fortune teller, she (or in one case he) can live solely on what they get from me.

Thank you, Yeti!

I can think of one small annoyance and one small suggestion...

1. Small annoyance: there's a bug in the 'Completed Missions' bit of the detective page which is mildly irritating. It doesn't count 'Artifacts Unearthed' properly - it counts the times you have an opportunity to unearth an artifact, rather than the number of times you succeed. It kind of adds insult to injury if the third time you fall into a trap and have to give up you then have a success recorded in your log. (I think the same bug might apply to 'Journal Pages Found' as well, but it's been a long time since I tried.)

2. Suggestion: Sleuth titles for Yeti to choose from should include 'Sleuth Hero' and 'Master Tinkerer' :)

You're very welcome Cersei.

That is a weirrrd bug Cordelia, good spot. I'll add it to my bug list.

I'm not so sure about dedicating time to give myself some flush titles, lovely as the thought is, but Bela has pointed out to me that you've already had a much better idea than that; adding a confirmation box when accusing a co-conspirator during a villain hunt. Good job with that suggestion!

Hey Yeti, while you're at it, can you have the Brass Rings won removed from our detective page, or is that feature finally going to come to fruition?

Here are two very easy feature requests that can be done using JavaScripts. I can send you the code for the first one, since it doesn't require you to share the game's code with me.

1) When a link is click, it should either become hidden immediately or disabled to prevent accidental double clicking and its effects.
How: Write a javascript that will execute on the onload event and the hide/disable code written in the onclick event of all 'A' tags.

2) Keyboard shortcuts for various important pages. I have seen this implemented on another game site using javascript. The idea is you can go to certain pre-defined pages, without using the mouse.
Examples:
b - banker
SHIFT b - barber
f - fortune teller
s - shoe store

Funnily enough I've actually dealt already with the double click issue - it's an update waiting in the sidelines to be reviewed by Ben. I didn't use a Javascript solution, but thank you for mentioning it - I hadn't considered it before.

I'm not sure there's a huge amount of need for keyboard short cuts though - with the tool bar on nearly every mystery page the navigating is already quite slick. I don't think they'd be hugely popular with the community either, as they'd remove some of the immersion from the game.

Here's a medium effort suggestion, probably is already there and I don't know about it. Just like we have the fixer remove your FAs, have a school where you can get skill points back for removing a particular skill. Think of it like a post-graduate re-learning or Phd. I am sure many players, especially new ones, trained a skill as a newbie, but later regretted doing so, when they could have trained a better skill. Perhaps, you can put a max limit of 3-5 skills that can be removed, but for a partial refund and other considerable penalties.

That's certainly something that could be done, but it's possible to get over 10,000,000 million exp in a year. By which time you should be overflowing in skill points, with nothing to spend them on. So I'm leaning towards just having players work towards the skills they want, rather than reshuffling their current skills. Out and out forgetting a skill to learn another one doesn't quite chime with post graduate study either.

One more. If a suspect dies, their name should automatically be ruled out from Detective's Notes.
