Our Friend YetiFace has been hard at work again improving Sleuth.

He's moved the icon toolbar around on the map page. More importantly, townie locations relevant to solving cases are now linked to each other with their own toolbar. So you shouldn't have to jump back to the map screen as often.

Yeti's working on a few other similar improvements that should help take a lot of the tedium out of Sleuth, and reduce the opportunities to make silly mistakes while you navigate.

Tell us what you think!

Looks like treasure hunting might be even more of a challenge for some of you hehehe *looks at Bela* ;)

For anyone with display issues on the main map screen, for example the fortune teller icon on the navigation bar overlapping with the suspect list, my first thought is that the browser version you're using has gotten a little old (if so, perhaps it'd be worth downloading the latest version of whatever browser you use). For reference, this is how the main map screen is meant to look:

If your screen doesn't look like that, and your browser version is recent, please mention it either here or send me a Sleuth Mail.

Mine is current...still issues. Again it has to be compatible with the helper which it's not. I'll see if I can get ahold of the creator of Sleuth Helper.

I understand that there's an issue with the helper, and that's something which will be dealt with. Putting aside the helper for now however, the map should look like how it does in the screen shot I posted. I know that for some people the "Interview Suspects" title is a little smaller than the suspects' names, but if you've got the suspect list shooting off upwards with every addition, instead of downwards, that's very, very wrong.

Yeti, my screen comes up like the screenshot you posted... I tried using the helper and that is where things get wonky. But, when I use trusty Firefox, no issues with the site layout. P.S. the FT is being a jerk for me too, thanks for the link!

Bugs or no bugs (they can and will be fixed), let's consider the effect these changes will have on the game itself. We are supposed to be detectives who visit different locations: the homes of our suspects and various shops of our townies. We come to one place, leave, go to another, leave, etc. It feels realistic.

If we can, without leaving the home of our client Thaddeus Leak, suddenly materialize in the shop of our friend Sylvia the butcher, it much more reminds one of an episode of Star Trek than of any of Noir films we all love. The atmosphere of the game will be lost, which is one of its chief attractions. The Sleuth we know and love will become a different game. Not necessarily worse, but different all the same.

An afterthought: there is a game of great potential which cries for improvement. Its name is Sleuth: Shades of Mystery.

Hi all. Thanks for the great feedback.

We've rolled back to the previous version for now while we give it some more thought.. I still like the idea permanent toolbar, but we'll put a little more work in and try to find something that works better.
