Hello. I'm newly subscribed and I'm looking for an active agency to be a part of. If I understand things correctly, as soon as I'm part of an agency, I can start the hunt for the Hidden Ring of Timbuktu at the Order of Socrates in New York. I'm quite interested in seeing what this treasure hunting thing is all about!

You could start that hunt if you joined an agency, yes, but unfortunately treasure hunting is very much a numbers game, and for treasure hunting in New York Blue Pagoda is the agency with those numbers. Perhaps you should try making an application to The Guild Of Nine? They're a smaller agency than Blue Pagoda, and it's possible that all the detectives are run by one person, but they've got space for new agents, and they do a lot of treasure hunting (including in Shanghai, another city where the Order of Socrates are based).

Hi Annieth!

First off, welcome to the Subscriber world. :)

Secondly, just to clarify....just because my agency is in NY, does not mean another agency is not allowed to partake in Treasure Hunting. There have been several agencies that have joined in on the New York hunts. We LOVE it when we have competition. It makes us work that much harder.

Secondly, if you are a Treasure Hunting Agency, like Guild of Nine, then you are only allowed the maximum 2 detectives by the same person in the agency. There are posts on the boards about this for any confusion, but you'd have to dig through pages to do so. Also wanted to point that out for other newbies as well. :)

Sadly, my agency is at maximum capacity. I'd recommend contacting someone at Flares. They have been around since last year, but they have some agents that are not new to the game and can possibly really help you out in terms of growing your detective. They also partake in Treasure Hunting in not just New York, but other cities within the game as well.

They are however, based in Shanghai. I'm sure that wouldnt be a problem as most agenties will give travel expenses in order for you to get to Shanghai where you can have access to the Equiment Locker Room and such.

I'd also be willing to pay your travel expenses, I can always wire the money to you.

Good luck to you, and happy Sleuthing!

Welcome Anneith! I agree with Lady Jas the "numbers" of any angency doesn't matter when it comes to recruitment. If there is a space you're eligible. I've never heard of anyone being turned away because they're new. Agencies want committment (how many days a week can you play?) I'm sure you'll get hooked up real soon.

Happy Sleuthing
:)

Sorry befote I dashed out of the house I forgot to mention that along with Guild of Nine and Flares, there is also Joss Boss Agency. They atenfull, but have inactive and unsubbed players and I'm sure if you want to join, they'd make room for you. :)

Don't be discouraged Anneith, ask around and don't be shy. Lady Jas has mentioned some great agencies which you can contact and I'm sure one of them will take you in. As you progress in the game and get access to Cairo look me up. Good luck to you :-)

I understood the agency two account rule had been dropped in 2012 (http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/post.spy?id=34689) - has it been reinstated?

I would loke to welcome you also, Anneith. I agree with Aife, don't be discouraged. The people here in Sleuth are pretty darned friendly and very helpful as a rule. Chat with a few people, maybe an agency member or officer and see what they're like and what they do as an agency. Some are very unified in purpose (like Blue Pagoda) and others are more fragmented and members do a lot of things on their own or in smaller subgroups. Sample several flavors and see what you like. Blue Pagoda is a great agency, but there are any number of others that are excellent also. I suppose you could make the argument that every city has an agency with the "numbers" to overpower the other agencies, but a good determined agency will win it's share of Hunts no matter what city they are in or who the competition is. Jump right in and start learning and enjoying. I think you'll like it here.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm contacting someone at one of the agencies mentioned, so hopefully I will have a home soon!
