See if there is interest for this.

1. Each day I will post 10 questions, at random times of the day.
2. Each Quiz runs exactly 24 hours.
3. The first person that has all 10 questions right, wins. Or if no one has all questions right, the best one wins.
4. You can only post answers ONCE for the same quiz.
5. No cash involved. Just glory. :)

Yes, I'm still muttering to myself "led lolly, yellow lolly".
Squirrel, I read on a long-forgotten Sleuths bookshelf that you are a period piece fan, and so am I. Josephine Tey's book is about a detective who lies in a hospital and tries to solve a "murder in retrospective". The suspect is Dick III and the victims are the princes in the tower. I'm sure you'd like it.

Sorry, LED, I didn't see your reply, but we're still waiting for 2., 7. and 9.
Shall we wait any longer or just give the answers?

Oh, and, Thompson and Thomson would have to have Pancho Villa moustaches if they were going to go by the Spanish Hernandez and Fernandez! :) )

*Does a little dance* - and no, no husbands springing to mind here either.

Off we go then - Fruit of the Loom (Fruit Quiz Part I):

1) Eve offered Adam a bite of this fruit.
2) Josephine Baker danced in a skirt made of?
3) These are not the only [kind of] fruit according to a British writer. And Prokofiev wrote a comic opera about the love for three of them.
4) In the old riddle song "I" gave my love this fruit, which has no stone when it's blooming.
5) It's claimed that one is more likely to be killed by one of these than by a shark
6) There have been controversies as to whether or not this should be classified as a fruit or a vegetable, however, it is the main ingredient of the annual festival/"fight" in Buñol, which together with the Pamplona Bull Run is one of the most well-known festivals in Spain.
7) It's supposedly healthiest to be shaped like this fruit.
8) An ever-present symbol in Chinese literature this fruit was believed to bring long life or even immortality and is considered the most sacred plant of the Chinese Taoist religion. Even today, it's customarily served at birthday celebrations in China as a symbol and hope of longevity – oh, and if it helps James had a giant specimen.
9) Which fruit was used by sailors to combat scurvy?
10) Italian for all kinds of fruit (and a song by Little Richard)

By the way, why did the strawberry call 911? It was in a jam :P

Good job, ladies!! Since you've cooporated to cover them all, I'll round off the quiz and we can go for 3 quizzes in one day!!

1. Apple
2. Bananas
3. Oranges - hints were to Jeanette Winterson's "Oranges are Not the Only Fruit" and Prokofiev's "The Love for Three Oranges"
4. Cherry
5. Coconut
6. Tomato
7. Pear it is - it's healthier than being apple or watermelon-shaped (thankfully), although I'm not sure if the pear is meant to be upside down
8. Peach - reference to Roald Dahl's childrensbook "James and the Giant Peach"
9. Oooo, had to check but yes they used both lemons and limes
10. Tutti frutti - hehehe ;)

Yes, indeed we have a tie!! :D
