Detectives on TV - Quiz

1) This man has played Christie's Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot from the late 1970's to the late 1980's in such classics as "Death on the Nile," "Evil Under the Sun," and "Appointment with Death." Who is he?
2) She is considered to be the best portrayer of Miss Marple in television history. She played the tweedy spinster in the 1980's, and finished with "The Mirror Crack'd" in 1992. Who is she?
3) The long-running television series "Inspector Morse" starred this late British actor as the main lead. He has also appeared in many other successful British dramas. Who is this man?
4) Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme are the green-fingered sleuths in this new detective series. They solve murder while on the job fixing and making gardens for their clients. Who are the two well-known actors who play the roles of Rosemary and Laura?
5) Another brilliant Poirot portrayer, he is considered to be the best man who's portrayed the Belgian detective. He has the perfect French accent and thick black mustache, and he's still making Poirot films. Most recently, he's done "After the Funeral," and "Cards on the Table." Who is he?
6) In 2004, this woman was selected to be the Miss Marple of the twenty-first century. However, criticism has resulted in the new adaptations because of changed killers, added lesbienism, changed plotlines, among others. Recently she finished her second season with two adaptations of books that originally never had Miss Marple in them - "By the Pricking of My Thumbs" and "The Sittaford Mystery." Who is she?
7) This actor has portrayed, among others, Sherlock Holmes from 1984 to 1994. However, many of his fans consider him to be the best portrayer of Holmes since Basil Rathbone in the 1940's. Who is he?
8) The star-studded detective series "Midsomer Murders" has received great acclaim, although it has been remarked that the body count is too high for each episode. Which actor plays the lead role of Inspector Tom Barnaby?
