ANSWERS:

1. Ipswich, Suffolk
2. Joseph Barbera
3. Peter Boyle
4. Yup Santa! Mr Worley said = Disney had told him "Santa was considered a Disney character". (*coughs* Luckily for Baby Jesus Walt was an atheist!)
5. The winner was "You" - that is, us - and to make sure we got the message, when we look at Time we see ourselves in a mirror embedded in the cover. Actually, the You is not quite all of us, merely those of us who have contributed to the growth of the internet and all it contains - for instance blogging and participating in YouTube, MySpace or other "user-generated" sites. (The Guardian)
6. A report from four University of Washington researchers reveals that security flaws in the new RFID-powered device from Nike and Apple make it easy for tech-savvy stalkers, thieves and corporations to track your movements. With just a few hundred dollars and a little know-how, someone could even plot your running routes on a Google map without your knowledge. (Wired)
7. Wii
8. Fabio Cannavaro - oh and apologies, I didn't say male so you 'could' have said Marta (Brazilian FIFA female player of year) even though ptii wouldn't have made sense.
9. He was the first defender to win (might have been the oldest too Adam)
10. The Ashes - Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

BONUS: Idomeneo - I was particularly amused reading this piece that one cleric actually said that the purpose of opera was "not to mix religion, art and politics." (Reuters)

WINNER: Adam

Okay I'll try this again... It didn't take last time.

1) 3 French Hens
2) 5 Golden Rings
3) 7 Swans a Swimming
4) 12 Pipers Piping
5) Depending on the actually meaning of that question 12 gifts, 79 specific items (unless you include the 12 pipes, 11 drums, and 8 cows, then it's 110).
6 & 7) According to some sources there were variations amongst the sects of Christianity as to when the birth of Christ was. Some celebrated it in September, some closer to Easter in March and April. But once the Popes started to circulate their celebration rituals, it became widely celebrated by Dec. 25, 400 AD.

8) Wren's Day or if you're Irish, St. Stephen's Day.

9) Norway

10 & 11) 2 if you count the Spice Girls as a band not a group. The Beatles were the first band to actually accomplish the goal.

12) I know it hit #1 for 5 straight weeks when it was first released. As for the revivals I am unsure.

13) The eight original reindeer are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixon, Comet, Cupid, Donder (Donner is not the correct name, it was changed due to people not hearing the original name correctly), Blitzen. Rudolph came later as a sales pitch for Montgomery Wards, and immortalized in song by Gene Autry.

14) Charlie Chaplin

15) Dido

Thanks that was a lot of fun! Happy Sleuthing!!
