See if there is interest for this.

1. Each day I will post 10 questions, at random times of the day.
2. Each Quiz runs exactly 24 hours.
3. The first person that has all 10 questions right, wins. Or if no one has all questions right, the best one wins.
4. You can only post answers ONCE for the same quiz.
5. No cash involved. Just glory. :)

It's interesting how different languages can be so similar, and yet different at the same time. I ran into two problems when coming up with this quiz. First, many langauges have different alphabets and writing systems than the Roman system that English is based on. This meant that many Middle Eastern, African, Slavic, and Asian languages simply couldn't be used for the quiz because I couldn't understand them, or get a decent translation for them. Secondly, many languages have more than one word for a comparable term in English, which makes picking the correct term tricky if one isn't fluent in a particular language.

Having said the above, I'm posting the answers that I've found. Since I'm not fluent in 18 of the 20 listed languages, I have no real way of knowing how correct my answers are. I'm posting this, with the assumption that those who are fluent in the various languages mentioned know more about the subject than I do. ;-)

The whole point behind this quiz was not to pick a winner, or to find some rather obscure trivia. Rather, I thought it might be interesting to take one word, and see how many different ways people have of communicating it. It's meant to be a reflection of the diversity of this community, rather than a pure test of knowledge.

Having said all that, CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!! You've taught all of us some things that we may not have known before, and shown us just how diverse and unique the world of Sleuth is. I thank you for that!! ;-)
