See if there is interest for this.

1. Each day I will post 10 questions, at random times of the day.
2. Each Quiz runs exactly 24 hours.
3. The first person that has all 10 questions right, wins. Or if no one has all questions right, the best one wins.
4. You can only post answers ONCE for the same quiz.
5. No cash involved. Just glory. :)

7. Albert
8. gee I'm reading a biography of Rasputin at the moment and this was in it... and it's still hazy. November? It's the Bolshevik revolution right? But like they called the end of East Germany / Berlin Wall the October Revolution (I think) ... so either way, not October :) maybe not even Russia.

and that's me done. lol where 'are' Chinese goosberries from? Google Google where for art thou...

And indeed we have a winner - Lucian, with 10 correct answers. Well done!! :)

Just to sum up:
1) 116 years, from 1337 to 1453
2) Ecuador
3) Sheep and Horses (according to wiki “it is supposed that the word is properly kitgut ("violin string"), kit meaning "fiddle", and that the present form has arisen through confusion with kit = cat”)
4) November - on the 7th to be precise (Russia used the Julian Calendar until 1918 so their calendar was 13 days “behind” ours). The upheaval is also known as the Bolshevik Revolution or November Revolution
5) Squirrel fur (or alternatively ox, goat, pony or blend of several hairs)
6) Dogs (The Latin name was Insularia Canaria - Island of the Dogs)
7) Albert - when he came to the throne in 1936 he respected the wish of Queen Victoria that no future king should ever be called Albert
8) Crimson
9) New Zealand (True, they did originate from China, but today we mainly associate them with New Zealand even though Italy is now the top producer. New Zealand is where they were given the name “Chinese gooseberries”, where the plant was also cultivated, developped and marketed into the fruit we know today, and then later renamed “kiwi(fruit)” as part of a marketing strategy in the late 50s/early 60s)
10) Thirty years of course!! Why look so surprised? (from 1618-1648)
