Would you guys be interested in something along the same line? And perhaps a bit more Sleuthy :).

The object of the game is to find a film Noir character, who doesn't necessarily need to be a leading character, but not a third footman either, if he doesn't happen to be the murderer :). We need to guess the character's name and the movie he or she appears in. Googling is permitted, and I am the first to admit that I don't remember the names of characters in movies I saw years ago. In any case, it won't help if we don't know what we are looking for. The films should be "real" Noir movies, filmed not earlier than 1940 and not later than 1960.

I'll start:

I am a woman :).

Don't worry, not what I was thinking of :)

Was it set in L.A?
Is it based on a book or comic?
Are there any famous noir images from the movie?( eg the man smoking under a streetlamp or a woman silohetted in a door or people on a misty street with a car)
Was more than one person murdered?
Does the character get hurt?
Does the character sleep with the murderer (or implied, did they show those things back then)?
Does the character sleep with the detective?
Is the character rich (a socialite)?
Or poor? Maybe working when caught in the action? (At a DINER I mean!!)

Lol let's see how I can cope with the barrage.

Yes, it's based on a book, although not a famous one, and there is a famous image from the movie, but it's none of the mentioned. Does she sleep with the murderer? I suppose so, she's married to him :).

True:

Based on a book
Famous noir image
The character gets hurt, but not physically
Married to the murderer
She is married to a rich man, so probably rich
She may have been poor before that

False:

Set in the desert
Set in Arizona
Set in LA
Directed by Orson Welles or Alfred Hitchcock
More than one person murdered
The character doesn't sleep with the detective (who, by the way, is not the male star)

Hints: murder is not the central theme, and the male star is not a detective.

What was the motive for murder?

Was it:
Jealousy?
An accident?
Money?
Work-related?
A will/heirloom?

What was the story/main themes about?

Was it:
Family?
Love?
Friendship?
Redeemption?
Revenge?

I don't know why I am asking really. I have no idea...

The motive for murder is money/business, but it's not essential for the plot. The main themes are love, hate and revenge.

A big hint: Look at your face in the mirror, Lady Ruby, the solution lies there :D.

So it's a movie with Rita Hayworth? :) I'm pretty lovely, aren't I?

Is the movie Gilda?

And the character Ballin Mundson played by George Macready?

The movie is "Gilda", the character we were looking for is Gilda, and Lady Ruby's avatar is also Gilda :D.

Congrats, Emily!
