Would you guys be interested in something along the same line? And perhaps a bit more Sleuthy :).

The object of the game is to find a film Noir character, who doesn't necessarily need to be a leading character, but not a third footman either, if he doesn't happen to be the murderer :). We need to guess the character's name and the movie he or she appears in. Googling is permitted, and I am the first to admit that I don't remember the names of characters in movies I saw years ago. In any case, it won't help if we don't know what we are looking for. The films should be "real" Noir movies, filmed not earlier than 1940 and not later than 1960.

I'll start:

I am a woman :).

Shot in the dark, just because I like the movie:

Ilsa Lund (played by Ingrid Bergman) in "Casablanca"

Breit, you scored a perfect bull's eye :D. The movie was filmed exactly IN 1950. And yes, my male co-star was American.

I also like "Casablanca", Peter, but no, it's not Ilsa :).

I am:

1. A woman
2. Filmed in a black and white movie
3. A major star
4. American
5. (was) filmed in 1950

I am not:

1. Male
2. European
3. Ilsa Lund ("Casablanca")

(Alas, I'm not on a holiday, hubby has caught a flu :(. )

Is murder a major plot characteristic? Assuming it is, is murder the central or primary crime in the plot, or is it incidental to or a consequence of events relative to another crime?

And another shot in the dark. (Very film noir-ish)
Doll Conovan (Jean Hagen) in "The Asphalt Jungle"

Is the movie located in a specific city (New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, etc.)?? Is the movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock, or somebody else like him??

Thank you!!

Hmmm again. The movie isn't directed by Alfred Hitchcock, but is it directed by "somebody like him"? In what way "like him"? A famous director, yes. Born outside the US, yes. Like Hitchcock, he is one of my favourite directors. But I'd say that the similarities stop here :).

Affirmative:

1. The mysterious character is a woman
2. Filmed in a black and white movie
3. A major star
4. American
5. Filmed in 1950
6. The male co-star is American
7. The movie is set in a city
8. There is a murder in the film
9. Murder is a consequence of events
10. The movie is set in a specific city
11. Directed by a famous director born outside the US

Negative:

1. Male
2. European
3. Ilsa Lund ("Casablanca")
4. There isn't a prominent animal feauture
5. The movie is not set in the country
7. Doll Conovan ("The Asphalt Jungle")
8. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
9. Set in New York
10. Set in San Francisco
11. Set in Washington DC
12. No happy ending

Phew! I hope I answered all your questions. If not, ask again :).

Could the actress either be Betty Grable in Wabash Avenue, or Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday??
