Who am I?

Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

Real or fictional? Alive or dead? Male or female?

Female, dead, real, but she is a heroine of several works of fiction.

Hey, hey, hey, is it Joan of Arc? It couldn't have been simple enough for me to guess though... :D

Is she from the 17th century? 18th century? 19th century? 20th century? Was she a royal or a politican? Did she die of natural causes? :o
Is iiiiiit Marie Antoinette?

She isn't from any of the centuries mentioned, she was royal, she isn't Marie Antoinette and, disappointingly, she died of natural causes :).

Natural causes? Bummer :D Curiously, though, I did write down Marie Antoinette earlier, even though I still meant Joan of Arc, but quickly erased that, because I doubt if she was much of a hero anywhere... :)
From the 21st, 16th, 15th, 14th, 13th...century? On a side note, there goes my brilliant French Revolution theory...it's the only thing about France I was forced to learn; without it, I have nothing (but Google :P I'll be quiet though, and play nice :)

Jeez. French heroes...you wouldn't think this would be super hard. *knee slap* Natural causes... Is she a native of France or merely a resident? (Was she born elsewhere?)
Hmmm...bizarre. The only other person I can think of is whatsit, Eleanor of Acquitaine. Or something. With the king and the lion and the whatnot.

I probably mislead you by the word "heroine". What I meant was only that she was a principal character in a work (or works) of fiction. She was very, very different from Joan of Arc and definitely not a saint :).
She was born in France in the 16th century and lived in turbulent times. She was nohting like Eleanor of Aquitaine either. No lions in winter for her :).

This is probably the wrong century, but is it Mme de Pompadour? ;0) L
