Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

She died longer than 750 years ago.
She is ''British'' however isn't English, Welsh or Scottish though lived in what is now England.

Hometown hero? Does that mean he's American?
Is he Clark Kent?
Is he real or not real?

Yes, he's American. No, he's not Clark Kent. And yes, he is a real person. Good start, Lady Emily. ;-)

Ok...
Sports? Actor? Politics? Scientist? Army? Firefighter? Author? Activist? Singer/Muscian? T.V Presenter? Cook?
Hometown heros I can think of:
Steve Bushemi: workd with the NYFD and when 911 happened worked alongside fellow firefighters without press.
Ty... : builds homes for people in need on Homes: Extreme Makeover.

All your hints are such teasers, guys...I'm usually really obtuse when faced with clues like that. But, for now, Emily's got it covered, like always :)

ok, answers here we go.
you didn't score any direct hits but yes, our guy DID:
-write several books (some of which you may have even read)
-serve in the army (US)
-work as a teacher (people used to line up around the block to attend his classes)
-work as an activist (especially for the environment when it wasn't really the glamourous thing to do)
-present a couple of tv shows, even though the shows weren't about him
but i'm sorry you still have NOT hit on our guy's main field of work.
he is NOT:
Clark Kent
Steve Buscemi (sp?)
Ty Pennington
in sports (except in college i think), acting, politics, science, firefighting, singing or playing music, or cooking
Happy Hunting! L

Is he still alive?
_________________________________________________________
Was he born in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s?
Was he active in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 70s, 80s, 90s or later?
_________________________________________________________
Did he serve in a war?
WWII?
Korean?
Vietnam?
Gulf?
Yugoslavia
Or another conflict the US has been in involved in since 1945?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_military_operations
Was going to list a few but there are way too many.

Were his TV shows that he presented about:
Science? War? History? The envirnoment? Religion? Fiction? Other?

Quite stumped. And should I just be asking one question at a time?
Thanks Breit/Luc :)
