... help required, ironically.

Is anyone else using this programme to help with their Sleuthing? If so, are you having problems where it keeps crashing - namely:

"Error: Document couldn't be saved to stream for parsing. Sleuth Helper will exit to prevent inconsistency." Straight after logging in.

Even if you can't help with this, do you know of any other solvers which I could use instead?

Yup that "exit to prevent inconsistency" message is sadly now very consistent. I've tried every option, checked/unchecked every box, run every virus scan, defragged every drive, climbed every mountain, yodelled every yodel and slurped every cup of tea (which seems to really annoy the Tea Steepers). Yet still no luck and it still crashes.

Back to the pen and paper!

Well that sucks that it stopped working for you, it certainly sounds like a setting on your PC, especially if its the one I sent you, I am having no problems with it at all.

What version of Internet Explorer do you have installed on your computer? I currently have IE8 and while I use Google Chrome for browsing, you still need to make sure Internet Explorer is at least installed.

If all else fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling

Yes, I doubt it is the Solver itself that is the problem. It might still be the antivirus software interfering with it. Thanks for all your help, anyway - it is much appreciated!

I experienced the error you reported here, too.
But after clearing my cache, closing all internet browsers and using the Helper, it worked pretty fine and faster than before.

Yes, I've recently done a complete overhaul (I'm typing this message using the Solver) and all seems to be working well - bar the occasional pop-up error message. Fingers crossed!

Duh!!! I can't believe I didn't think of the clearing the cache trick. The most basic troubleshooting step of all!

um hello this is my first time posting and I've used sleuth Helper for a few years and I love it but now when I log in with it nothing shows in the boxes its just blank and I've uninstalled and re installed but it still won't work any help is greatly appreaciated

Log-in directly to Sleuth and try the "helper" that is there on screen. I think you'll find it is just as reliable and easy to use as the old helper.
