I am happy to announce that the latest expansion to Sleuth: Noir, the Nemesis Hunt, is officially live as of 23:00 server time on September 9th, 2012. That is a full hour AHEAD of the scheduled update time, so first off let me start by thanking Ben for everything he has done to enable this expansion from day 1. He has been very open and supportive in this endeavor, and none of this could have been done without him. So thank you, Ben.

Now, on to the good stuff... how do nemesis hunts work?

If you have captured 3 or more Arch-Villains (10 starting October 1st), you are able to start a Nemesis Hunt. The first step is to head to Shangri-La and talk to the Prince.

...and that is the only step I will give you.

Good luck everyone! There is a special achievement on the line for the first person to capture a Nemesis, so get to it...

There's no definitive answer to that question due to certain random factors and the ability of the player to decipher the clues, but I can tell you that I was able to solve a sample nemesis hunt with 28 clues.

Well I hope you are joking ;) 28 clues could take me 6 months at the rate I am going hehehe!

At this rate, and with the task I am required to get my next clue, after 6 months I should be up three clues.

^ - I always like to say - better to end up with 3 clues after 6 months, then no clues after a year

Tell me this thing doesn't give out repeat clues, please. *cocks an eyebrow and tries to not even THINK of that possibility anymore*

Very important bug:

I got three tasks from a single AI case with a nemesis twist today. This implies that anyone can

* do multiple tasks at a time
* choose among these tasks those that s/he sees best fit in terms of travel costs, level of hardness etc.

if they do not sell the gear they are awarded by a Nemesis case as soon as they solve the case, but instead keep making the same accusation as many times as they desire.

There have been other bugs and glitches in the game (easy cases with a twist, changing number of Cairo cave exploration trials for Steepers people, etc) and by far this seems to be one that is most subject to exploitation.

Hope I could clearly state the problem and the report makes sense. I think this hunt should itself be a beta test or whatever you guys call it.

--

This, of course, is given that I assume all these three or x number of tasks for that matter, once completed, count as separate successful missions rather than one.

I've got a duplicate task

whilst I can't speak to what Eden is talking about, if you mean duplicate task in that one of your missions asks you to do something that you've already done in a previous mission eg 'deliver a Rasputin's Egg to the Hypothetical Software's offices', that'll happen. The amount of missions / tasks you need to complete in order to finish your Nemesis hunt will mean that you'll more than likely hit the same mission / task again at some point. And it's all random so you might get the same mission / task twice in a row even.
