It is rumored that the ornate palace gates of Shangri-La have finally been opened to the public for the first time in known history. The Prince is making his debut into the public eye with a brilliant gala hosted by the Prince himself: an exclusive invitation-only event attended only by the most prominent and affluent people from countries all over the world.

Some commoners have been invited to this rare event--but not as guests. The Prince's most trusted advisor has particularly collected special operatives to patrol the event: the world's brightest, swiftest, and most skilled. You will be entrusted with making sure that everything goes off without a hitch. But there are those who would rather see the event go down in flames, along with the Prince himself.

Five minutes before the event is scheduled to start, a report of a most alarming nature reaches the operatives' ears. There has been a breach in the ranks. Some spies have infiltrated the group! But since they have never seen each other's faces, there is no way to tell whose allegiance is true. The team has been compromised, but there is still a chance to save the evening.

The operatives' job this evening is to make sure the Prince's gala goes off without a hitch. If he is pleased at the end of the night, they will be rewarded handsomely. Sources say he is forgiving of small mishaps, but when pushed too far...

The Prince's reputation is at stake. Will his gala be a phenomenal success, or will it succumb to the sabotage of the spies? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

OK Serges. Let's say for all intents and purposes, you are Resistance. That last mission proposal was going to give a lot of information (besides the fact that it was made up of of three of a team who succeeded the first mission and the fourth is pretty unanimously agreed upon to be Resistance - Jason). That mission would have given us a lot of information.

Jason has to post his action publicly.

If the mission failed, it was down to three people. I would obviously use my card on either Molly or Adam. And I would announce to everyone who the Sabotage vote was. Now I could be a spy. And let's say I posted that Molly sabotaged when she knew she didn't - Molly knows I am a spy. Then we duke it out on the boards and people can choose to believe who they want. But we know for a FACT that one of me or Molly is a spy. That was a gamble I was willing to take and it didn't seem TOO much of a gamble considering Molly, me, and Adam were all on the first successful mission.

As for the voting, I learned not to put too much weight into it. It makes you think, but... I was driving myself batpoop crazy the first game. Marc was a spy and he voted YES to every single mission proposal whether it had a spy on it or not. We also have several new players who may not fully understand yet. Or like I said the spies may be voting yes, assuming it was going to get approved anyway, as to not blow their cover. Your use of NO CONFIDENCE speaks louder than how the votes came out. Because at this point, what better team could be put out there for the Resistance than the one that was? If it fails, the game is tied and we have info to move on with. But if it passes.... that is really really bad for the spies. I can't really think of a good reason to NO CONFIDENCE it at this point thinking something better was going to come up. Unless you knew it was going to pass and that would be horrible for the spies.

That's where I'm coming from.

I also want to mention this isn't exactly a critical mission for the Resistance and it seems jumping the gun a bit to use that card so soon based on really nothing at this point.

Taking Responsibility, which is still unaccounted for in the draw, allows a player to take another power. There's a chance my NO CONFIDENCE could have been stolen by a spy, which would give them the power I intended to keep out of their hands in the first place. That's why I mulled over using it for the previous mission.

There's a reason I'm not happy about volunteering my personal strategy in this game, Nic, and playing closer to the vest... it's because the more info the spies have about me and my thoughts, the more they can use to throw suspicion toward me. I'm playing this game like I would at home, assuming I wasn't gifted a scenario were I could find out 2 other resistance members before the first team was even proposed, like last game. Last game was the anomaly, not this one.

But, apparently it's going to take 3 more missions before you believe me, considering your track record in the first game re: Biggie. So I'll just wait for that to happen and continue to try to help, despite knowing I'm public enemy #1.

I'm with Adam Carter on this one, I'm not sure about vulkie, so I'd prefer someone else on the team, I'm voting no. It may hurt us a new proposal but a spy on the team is not a better option.

I think right now we're looking at sort of the same effect I touched on in the last game, that of Either/Or. The fact is that the people we assume to be Resistance, could very well be, or they could be fleecing us. The people we assume to be spies, could be, or they could be Resistance.

You only know your own allegiance. As I said I'm confident in Adam and Nic, but even if I weren't- the system of checks and balances that they are capable of rolling out is really the best option we have both to make progress in the game and to avoid roundabout circles of proposal after proposal until the spies win by default.

I then challenge all those who voted no to this proposal to offer up a better one- mind you not an official one in the game, but what their logical move would be. At this point I think saying no to say no is just as suspicious an action as anything. So, those of you who voted no, tell us what you would do instead? :) Because as I see it, the checks-and-balances play is the best shot we've got to both get another resistance win and perhaps get us out of the dark a little bit.

Personally, I'd go with Jason, Andi, Adam, and me. Here's why:
Jason is (by all accounts) clean in this game.
Adam was cleared by Vulkie, which is better intel than we have on anyone else so far.
Andi, in my estimation, is most likely Resistance because if she were a spy, she could have used her power on me to cast suspicion on me immediately, and she didn't do that. So either she's clean, or she's a spy trying to keep herself hidden. Keeping a close eye on her would probably determine that for sure.
Lastly, I'm the other person who has been cleared by a card, and I'd love a chance to prove it to everyone. So, put me in the spotlight.

That's my theoretical proposal.

Okay. I see where you're coming from Serges, but I have to inquire about Jason. Not that I'm accusing him of anything, but it seems a folly to accept Jason is Resistance because he was a bad player. He's also had an opportunity to play this game twice before, both times as spies, and as such could learn a bit of strategy therein. Again, not an accusation, just being logical, but what exactly are we going on with Jason that makes him immune to spyhood besides previous performance in games?

Now, this hypothetical proposal does shed light however. I know you wouldn't put two spies (or more) on the same team- unless you were willing to take a huge gamble knowing we'd immediately realize that. But that would be a reaaally brassy move. I dont know if thats too feasible.

Anyone else have thoughts?

You're right about Jason. Normally, I'd never judge a book by its cover in this game. But... COME ON. Jason was so spectacularly bad at being a spy, I just don't see him turning it around SO much in this game. Watch, I'll try to prove it.

"I think Jason Arends is a filthy spy."

If he goes into complete panic mode, then no more wondering :)

There you have a valid point, Molly.
Vulkie and/or Kagome may be spies (I'm not the only one to think about it), so I can only trust myself, and maybe Adam Carter. So my proposal would be (in case you decide to use your card or I become a leader) a team with me, Adam Carter (a resistance member, assuming vulkie told us the truth), nicnic (she can use her card on me, I don't mind) and as a last member I'd take either Jason (according to Adam Carter, this time it sounds reasonable that he's resistante or his previous games taught him how to be a spy) or you, Molly (I read the previous games, it looks like this time you're resistance).

Whew, you people stay busy while I'm working ;)

So firstly, apologies for not being as heavy a participant in this game as I have been in the others thus far. Its been an INSANE week at work for me, and I'm in a bootcamp class after work every day this week as well so not even generally home.

To explain my no vote in the last round of voting: I think the fact that I was the ONLY one who voted no says it all. The only person I'm sure is not a spy is me. I don't trust the little information posted so far in regards to others allegiances because its entirely based on believing what the people who had the cards posted, namely that Andi clears Serges (and both could be spies) and Vulkie clears Adam (both could be spies). There's no reason one way or the other to believe either over the other.

I'm finding the voting patterns in this game INCREDIBLY weird and unexplainable. My vote of no makes sense to me, because as long as I know I'm resistance, and I'm not on the team, I know there's more of a chance that the others on the team are. The fact that all four spies voted yes just convinces me I was right to think so. I'm relieved that Serges No Confidence'd it, even though I think his reasons for doing so are a little murky.

I'll have to put some more thought into who I'd propose for a team. I'm pretty sure Jason would be on it though, because he's actually PLAYING the game. That in and of itself implies he's not a spy this time around.
