Once again, turmoil is brewing in the underground crime world of New York. The city is slowly being taken over by La Cosa Nostra, the New York underground mafia. They are recruiting members at record numbers and they can be seen in every night club and bar scaring away customers. And now Joseph Hollis, the High Philosopher of the Order of Socrates, and mayor of New York, has learned of a secret plan by his rival faction, La Cosa Nostra, to go on a crime spree and make off with money, valuables, and ultimate control of various establishments in New York.

Mr. Hollis, being not only concerned with the livelihoods of the patrons of his city, but also with his rival faction gaining too much power, has decided to put together a team of trusted Order of Socrates resistance operatives to foil the plans of La Cosa Nostra. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of attrition lately, and certain people have been going to the highest bidder to offer their services as a spy working from within the Order of Socrates. Joseph is aware of this and he's put together the best possible team he can think of, but unwittingly will be inviting some spies for La Cosa Nostra to his team of operatives.

As long as the loyal Order of Socrates operatives can figure out whom amongst them is untrustworthy, their mission should be a success. But if they trust the wrong people, La Cosa Nostra will succeed and cause severe damage to the New York economy, while gaining enough power to take over the city.

Will the mayor and his team be able to restore order to New York? Or will the underground mafia, take over the city's resources? That's for you to decide in this version of The Resistance: Order of Socrates Restores Order

Nic's The Resistance OOS Post-Mortem Write Up:

I'm not going to lie. I was rooting for the spies this time. For the simple reason that they got dealt a pretty craptastic hand. Or should I say Serges got dealt a really really good hand as the first leader and being a Resistance member.

The game started out with Serges getting the OVERHEARD CONVERSATION, OPEN UP, and ESTABLISH CONFIDENCE cards. With these three abilities, he and Eden both learned that both of them were Resistance, and they learned that Illicit was also. This was probably close to the most powerful thing that could have happened for three resistance members at the beginning of the game.

What I did find a bit baffling.... was so how quickly and easily all the other resistance members believed them. lol. When I play against Serges, I WILL NOT take his word at face value. I know how tricky he is.

So the spies were at a serious disadvantage from the onset.

Another thing that went the Resitance's way was.... Serges RANDOMLY chose Ms Helen (a spy) to go on the first mission with them. And that mission got approved (which BTW I will NEVER approve the first mission posted, but that's a different story for a different day). So Ms Helen is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If she fails the mission, she's immediately outed. So she voted succeed.

But by the next mission, her cover was blown.

The second mission, proposed by Eden, who was Resistance and knew Serges and Illicit were as well, proposed the initial three plus Ms Helen. At this point Ms Helen could NOT succeed again because then her team would be down 2-0. So she had to sabotage. And she was then outed to Serges and Eden as a spy. Again... what I found baffling as a third party observer was how all the other Resistance members were just listening to Serges and Eden. Serges scares me. I will not listen to him when I play against him LMAO.

But the one thing that was bugging me the whole time as Serges' argument, and I think I vaguely mentioned this that everyone was kind of missing something, and I will say it now.... If Serges was in fact a spy, just because he put both he and Eden on the same team by no means absolved him of being a spy. He had little choice. If he was in fact a spy, the cards he got weren't so great. Let's say Serges, Riza, and Eden were all spies and he got the cards he did. Well he didn't have much of a choice. He *could* have decided to out one of them as a spy to gain trust. But he also *could* have decided to clear one of them and perform some trickery. So after he cleared Eden.... how could he NOT put him on the mission? That's why I thought that whole argument was weak. After saying Eden was Resistance, and vice versa, Serges and Eden had NO CHOICE other than to put each other on their proposed teams, whether they were spies or not.
